George VI died on February 6th, 1952. She became Queen on that date.
I was born a month later, on March 5th, 1952. So she has been Queen my entire life. I don’t think I could have wished for a better one. |

Nothing against the Queen, but does it seem weird we have to lower our flags to half mast? We decided years ago we did not want to be a part of the royal family, why dip our national ensign? Supposed to keep them at half mast until internment - that will be a week or more I would guess.

Elizabeth I saw England's rise to a world power Elizabeth II saw the end of the Empire and the reduction of Britain to its current state. It had to be hard on her. She was the product of another age where duty always overrode self. I hope she rests in peace. |

A true lady, whose efforts to keep up British Morale during WW2 are very much underappreciated. I have always had a great deal of respect for her.
When she was 14, Winstoin Churchill asked her to make a broadcast of encouragement to be heard over the world via BBC Home and World services.
