Biden could wave his pen and issue a remain in Mexico EO, just like the one he did away with his first day in office. Problem is, he doesn’t fucking care.

This bill and the politicians whom wrote it don’t give a fuck about the border and don’t care to do anything about it. If they did care, it would’ve been handled by now in a multitude of other ways besides platitudes and lip service in what is ostensibly a foreign aid bill.

While Trump was far from perfect,  you have to have a serious case of TDS to not look at any graph and see the difference in illegals under Trump vs Biden (or Obama).  It's not even close.  He was blocked mostly by OTHER Republicans.

So you're too lazy to take the 5 minutes too look up the actual numbers?

Weird we didn't need a pork laden border deal to stem the flow even though the Trump admin was fighting against progressive judges legislating from the bench and the msm demonizing them against every step he took.

People who think that this was some sort of good deal are either plants or they have not actually bothered to look at what it did.

There is no good reason to put any immigration issue solely within the DC federal district court. One of the most corrupt, partisan court circuits in the country that routinely hands down looney tune rulings favorable to the deep state.

There is no good reason to hand amnesty-granting authority to the secretary of DHS.

These two measures alone would be grounds to vote against it because it completely undermines any check or balance on immigration. And if you don't see how letting Mayorkas just decide who he can basically fast-track to citizenship and then force every question challenging that into the DC circuit then you're not informed enough to even have this conversation.

I would call 500 miles of wall political theater designed to make folks think he actually did something! Building walls that look impressive on news reports while tunnels are underneath to shuttle migrants and drugs in. This crap has been getting worse for 40 years during which both parties had total control in Washington and nothing was done! It’s all a game of which party can make the other party look bad! You complain that nothing will be done, trump actually did something.   His actions forced Mexico to stem the flood of immigrants and the 500 miles with border wall are able to be secured with a fraction of the manpower now.   The remain in Mexico policy crashed the number of getaways since they weren't allowed in the country at all.

Nobody wanted to listen when they were told that changing the Speaker wouldn't make a damn bit of difference but yet here we are. Votes are votes and the GOP doesn't have enough in either chamber of Congress to force things through. This is why winning elections is important and also why some GOP members eating their own is counterproductive.

DUR we want fewer illegal aliens and the people who we pay to catch illegal aliens say they need to have more money to catch illegal aliens!? Must be deep state bureaucrats!

Everything CBP has is at the southern border. That's no money for training, equipment, recruitment, interdicting fent or illegals elsewhere, anything else right now.

The argument that this bill is supported by Border Patrol agents because they're worried about lining their pockets is the dumbest goddamn thing in GD this week, and that's a high bar.

Here's the letter the CBP commissioner put out:

“CBP Leaders,

As you have likely heard by now, yesterday the Senate released a bipartisan national security agreement. To better respond to the volume of encounters we have seen in recent years, we need more resources and stronger enforcement tools than currently available to manage migration at the border.

This proposed legislation would provide the strongest set of tools we have had in decades to effectively manage migration and enhance our nation’s border security. The primary enforcement changes in this agreement include the Border Emergency Authority that would deem individuals who cross the border at times of high encounters ineligible for asylum and order them summarily removed, changes to strengthen the Credible Fear interviews so that only individuals who are more likely to be eligible for asylum are favorably screened to continue in the process, and a new accelerated provisional removal process that will eventually enable asylum claims to be adjudicated in a matter of months not years.

Critically, this agreement would provide much-needed resources to our frontline personnel, with over $6.8B in supplemental funding for CBP alone. This includes funding for over 1,500 new Agents, Officers, and mission support personnel as well as funding for the recently increased GS-12 Border Patrol Agent overtime pay. The bill also includes important new funding for Non-Intrusive Inspection systems, Automated Surveillance Towers, and other key items to improve our ability to perform our missions. In addition, the proposal significantly increases resources for USCIS and ICE to expand their capacity to screen, transport, detain, and remove individuals who cross the border unlawfully at sufficient scale to match recent encounter levels.

Together, these tools and resources would enable us to maximize consequences against those who unlawfully enter the country, maintain order and security at the border, and appropriately prioritize our essential national security and public safety missions.

These proposed changes won’t fix everything in our immigration system. But they are tough and fair. And, if enacted into law, they would make meaningful and substantial improvements to our nation’s border and national security.

As leaders across our agency, I wanted to share these highlights with you now as this legislation moves forward in Congress.

Thank you for everything you do each day.”

Troy A. Miller
Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Commissioner

Here's the head of the BP Council last week when they were hardworking staunch patriots betrayed by the administration and before this week when they were identified as an untrustworthy counterrevolutionary element:

https://www.newsweek.com/border-patrol-union-praise-greg-abbott-migrants-texas-eagle-pass-1860837

Same guy Trump trotted out repeatedly to endorse his proposals:

https://apnews.com/article/eb348270991d4d238e6aa83f18930263

I don't know much about the details of the changes in asylum law - and from the dumbass talking points I see here I don't think many other folks do either - but if The Cult and The Squad are against this bill that's powerful evidence it's something useful for the country.

Not as good as Trump.

Trump brings record low border crossings without giving amnesty

Border Patrol apprehended 303,916 undocumented migrants near the U.S.-Mexico border in fiscal year 2017. That was the lowest annual total since 1972. This is part of a long-term trend of declining apprehensions at the border. In 13 of the last 16 years (and 9 of the last 10), the annual number of migrants apprehended by Border Patrol has consistently ranked lower than the previous three-year average. And according to CBP’s best estimates, the number of migrants who evade apprehension has also been shrinking.

This year saw 26 percent fewer migrants than 2016. The drop began after Donald Trump’s inauguration: February, March, and April saw the fewest monthly apprehensions since at least 2000, when Border Patrol makes monthly records available, and probably since the 1970s.

You should actually try and learn something about the SW border.

"After April 2017, monthly totals of migrant apprehensions stopped dropping. Though the “Trump effect” hasn’t totally faded, the number of apprehensions in September 2017 resembles the number in September 2014, and may continue to increase."

Republicans controlled the House, the Senate, and the Presidency and didn't do shit about the border. Only an idiot thinks they care about illegal immagration for anything other than a campaign talking point. Are you really surprised that they fucked that up too?

Mitch put 3 conservatives on the court and blocked Trump’s AWB.

He’s good to go in my book.

You should actually look at the chart I posted and then try actually reading the article you actually linked:

"After April 2017, monthly totals of migrant apprehensions stopped dropping. Though the “Trump effect” hasn’t totally faded, the number of apprehensions in September 2017 resembles the number in September 2014, and may continue to increase."

Ah yes, when caravans were put together by some unknown force for completely legitimate reasons with funding coming from God knows where?

I might engage in good faith conversation if you didn’t act like an asshole, but it’s par for the course in GD these days. If usernames were turned off this post could just as well have been made by Ryan_Ruck, Shenanigunz, ArmyInfantryVet, Top_Secret, bullet_sponge…… and no one could possibly tell the difference. Just the same “everyone here is a rube…except me.”

Must be slim social pickins to hang out with a bunch of people you think are complete retards

It’s all so tiresome
