Ivermectin is something of a broad band inhibitor of various infections, to the point that there is a CDC (if my memory isn't off, but it could be from some other federal health agency) document advising doctors treating refugees from various countries to just go ahead and prescribe ivermectin, instead of spending the time and resources to run various tests for infections that are common in their home countries.  Huge conflict from the "those right wing nuts are eating horse paste, because they don't want to take the vaccine" that was being pushed by the news media, EVERY time the topic of using ivermectin as a treatment was brought up.

Hydroxychloroquine was undermined by doing "studies" where it was used on the worst cases, and usually not given with the combinations that proponents had suggested (it boosts the effectiveness of zinc, more than it acts on it's own).

There was an active smear campaign against both of those treatments.  If an effective treatment was adopted early on, the government's rules on granting an Emergency Use Authorization of the vaccines, would have blocked that authorization from being given and required the vaccines to go through the normal process of getting approval for use on humans.

Kinda reinforces the idea that the vaccine doesn't work as advertised, doesn't it?

So if in fact there were treatments available that were suppressed in favor of unproven vaccines of questionable efficacy this would be somewhat of a scandal.  Follow the money...

It's not exactly that they don't work at all, but that there are stages in effectiveness.

The simple cloth masks that have been pushed as some sort of fashion trend among the hipster crowd, are at the level of "well, it's better than nothing, but that's really all you can say about it".  I don't recall exact numbers, but I think it was somewhere less than 10% effective in filtering out what needed to be filtered out.

N95 masks bump things up considerably, but I think (fuzzy memory) they were still less than 50% effective, though they varied quite a bit due to how effectively the design of a particular mask sealed to the face.

Properly fitted respirators were another step up (with appropriate filters), and upgrading from the N95/P95 filters to N100/P100 filters was another step up.

But you didn't quite get into the "can laugh in the face of the virus trying to get in" level, until you upgraded to the medical biohazard suit.

The cheap cloth masks were essentially a talisman for the masses who didn't bother to look into the details and simply made a weak effort to follow the propaganda.  (ETA: Even the information about the mask usage during the 1918 pandemic was a bit misleading, since you had to do some digging into that topic to find out that they weren't just pushing simple cloth masks.  They were making the masks from layered gauze, providing more filtering than just a layer of cloth.)

Double masking started as a way to conceal the fact that those with the right connections were actually getting N95 masks, when the general public couldn't find them for sale (sold out, or sale restricted to health care workers).  They were simply wearing a cheap cloth mask over the N95, then started the double masking idea when people started noticing that there was a second mask peeking out from under the cheap cloth mask.

Hmm. That would also suggest that Ivermectin is long-term proven as being completely safe for human use.

Highlighted text is wildly optimistic, even with fitted N95 (NOT KN95).

N95 masks blocked ~18% of viral particles, which is the best thing that can be said of them.   That is regardless of fit.

Cloth masks trap moisture and retain heat, allowing the viral particles to survive longer and giving a greater chance of infection.

Paper surgical masks are meant to prevent a surgeon from spitting into the open wound of a patient on the table.  Not prevent exposure to an airborne disease.  Which means that if someone is facing you and intentionally coughing on you, then it would prevent direct contact with the forcefully expelled fluids.  There will still be exposure to the airborne virus being shed with every exhalation of the infected party.

As I said, I didn't recall the exact numbers, which is why I was using terms like 'somewhere less than'.  I was trying to illustrate the tiers of effectiveness, with the medical biohazard suit at the top (and fairly effective) and the cheap masks that have been heavily promoted for the past nearly two years at the bottom (most positive thing you can say about them is "well, better than nothing", but just barely better than nothing).  The silly part is how little money it takes to climb up through those tiers, until you get near the top.  But for quite some time, the "experts" have been telling us to buy the bottom tier to protect ourselves.

And therefore what conclusions can we draw about the idiots (such as politicians and CDC Directors, but I repeat myself) that wear cloth masks over N95s?

Spot on.  You've nailed it on your last couple of posts...this and the comment about Ivm & Hcq would've blocked EUA for experimental vaccines...

I believe that good quality masks/filters or multi-layer cloths, can be effective in "reducing" (not eliminating) viral spread / load when worn correctly.

Think of how you were taught by your grandma to sneeze or cough into your sleeve, versus openly coughing toward someone.  It makes sense.  The thing that sucks about masks, is that they're ugly, and demeaning, and dorky, and kind of denote "fear of the invisible floating germ..."  They're not manly or cool so we hate them.

blacks protesting in fayetteville....

supposedly, depending on who you listen to

1 black guy jumped on truck driven by off duty leo, tore off windshield wiper and started trying to break windshield with it.

officer shoots guy

2 blacks/blm protest saying that the black guy was just crossing the street when officer hit him with truck, then stopped and just shot him

In dramatic video of the shooting aftermath, Hash can be seen telling police that Walker 'ran across the street so I stopped. He jumped up on the car, started screaming. He broke off my windshield wiper and started beating on the glass.'

'I have my daughter, my child in here,' added Hash, pointing toward a person, apparently his daughter who is believed to be in her mid to late teens, sitting in the truck. At another point he said: 'I'm going to protect my wife and my child.'

The Fayetteville police chief said that Hash's version of events was supported by an examination of the truck, which showed that one windshield wiper had been torn off and used to break the windshield in several places, as Hash claimed Walker had done.

However, one alleged eye-witness spoke out in the press and claimed that Walker was simply crossing the road when Hash struck him with his truck and shot him.

Masks being worn to stop the spread of SARS-CoV-2 are at best a net neutral, but likely are a net negative due to gross misuse by the untrained masses.

Coughing and sneezing into your sleeve is a whole other ball game from simply trying to slow or stop droplet spread through an unsealed face covering with relatively large pores.  Coughing/sneezing into your sleeve redirects any escaping droplets towards the ground, and then your sleeve dries quickly to become a very unhospitable environment for something like a virus.  The face coverings stay moist and if not changed often will build up bacteria or viral material which can be carried along with the next droplet expulsion.

I did quite a bit of microbial filtration and aseptic handling, including a whole lot of time suited up on breathing air, in my time doing the biochemistry thing.  I'm not an expert, but I know enough to confidently state what I have here.

@Fantomas

Excellent! Boy Harsher is on my regular rotation. "Pain" is one of my all time favorite dark wave/minimal synth tracks.

Try this one on for size...

Have friends doing missionary work there.

India took it on the chin and it burned through. The virus was smoldering at a low level there until a recent spike. So far there isn't a corresponding rise in deaths. I suspect because of widespread acquired resistance through infection or exposure. Also seems the virus is becoming less pathogenic in general. And probably the most vulnerable have already been picked off.

It's odd they've vaccinated 46% of their population mostly after it burned through. Surprised they've had that much participation because it seems especially pointless after the fact.

Efficacious treatments and stopping the spread are 2 different things. Nothing stops it.  Encouraging home interventions was clearly better than the "go to the ER if your O2 drops below 90%" bullshit instructions given to Americans.  That said, their mortality rate is still allegedly higher than ours despite all the false reporting here. I dunno, maybe the same shit happens there.

ID for voting?  Racist.

ID and vac card to go out to eat our nation's capitol?  Good.  Not racist.

Given how they are letting habitual offenders off for assaulting federal law enforcement, damaging federal property, rioting, etc (unless they happen to be conservative and walked into a federal building with a cop holding the door open for them, then they throw the book at them), I seem to be at a loss as to where I should even start to look for a fuck to give about that federal law being broken, and that's before even considering the fact that they are infringing on a Constitutional right.

Heads up peeps. I don't know what's going on but I've seen multiple photo's / reports of a prefab concrete wall being built on the inner parameter of the WH.

Could be interesting.

Option 1 - Getting the stage set for thwarting the next false flag attack on the federal government.

Option 2 - The staff of the most popular president in US history (record number of votes for him) has realized just how hated they are, and they are prepping their fortress for what comes next.

Option 3 - ???
