A 10/22 wallet drainer is on my list to build. Best I've done so far are a takedown in a magpul stock and Volquartsen trigger, extractor, and bolt release upgrades. Put a regular one in a magpul stock and made LOP as short as possible for my 9yo. He was putting everything in the black on a 25yd pistol target at 50yds first time out with it.

The parts list in the 40+ year old manual for mine says it's on an exchange basis only. So you have to buy an RSI 1022 to get one.
I think they have done some distributor specials a few times in the past so not impossible to find one.

Mine is in a Boyd's stock, tuned Volquartson trigger group, with a Green Mountain 18" heavy barrel with cantilever scope mount.  Don't know why more people don't go with the cantilever scope mount with how the barrel is attached.

Mine is pretty simple, houge overmold stock and volquartsen trigger parts,I've thought about going full ham on it with aftermarket parts but. I think it's already more accurate than I am a shot.

It’s hard to say. The Magpul stock is a relatively new acquisition and I like it very much. I can’t tell yet whether it makes shooting easier than the more conventional Ruger factory laminated stock or the very similar fiberglass version but it sure does look cool!

I also have Boyd’s Pro Varmint (formerly the ridiculously named “Tacticool” stock) that has been sitting in the shipping box for the last five years. I have a spare 10/22 and a very nice Green Mountain 18” stainless bull barrel waiting if I ever get the time to plug them together.

Next up I’m going to try one of the Victor Titan stocks. It looks like a very nice piece.

ETA:

I forgot to mention the Hogue rubber over molded stock. I think it’s great with a standard barrel but I haven’t tried the bull barrel version. I worry that it may not be sufficiently rigid to support the much heavier barrel. It seems to be quite popular in that configuration however so my concern is probably misguided.

Mine came on this TALO distributor exclusive.  I'm not sure how else someone would acquire one, except as a takeoff part.

Also tweaked the irons; GI Tech front, NoDak rear w/integrated 1913 rail, and a Montana leather sling.  Am thinking of getting a leather butt cuff that holds 2x 10 round mags, and an extended charging handle.

I will take that question. Early ones were ok but most any of the newer guns have pretty nasty triggers . Replace the whole unit or buy the parts and rebuild the one you have. I have done both.

Aftermarket target barrels can be pretty accurate but they do so partly with super tight chambers which can hurt reliability .

Along with trigger work I like to radius the bolt (directions at rimfirecentral.com) will have them running standard velocity target ammo and that is a big plus .

I like the Ruger factory heavy barrel guns, nice stiff front heavy with a compromise chamber tight enough to be more accurate than the standard models but still reliable

I just finished this one and am saving for glass. Ever since we built my son his I have been wanting one for myself.

Left hand laminate stock.
ER Shaw 16 threaded barrel
Brn22 receiver
Kidd bolt, handle, and recoil stuff
Tacsol mag release
And I dont remember who made the trigger assembly

It should be a great shooter

Great parts list....but no receiver?

All KIDD parts are top quality and every one will improve a 10/22.

The receiver though helps all of them to be their best. You will get a perfect barrel fit, the bolt will glide perfectly smooth, there will be zero trigger group play.

It’s a PITA to order thru an FFL but in my experience it is well worth it. Plus, you can tell people you have a KIDD Classic....if you ever decide to sell it you will get way more attention than a Ruger receivered build.

My Dad bought me this 10/22 back in 2013 for my 23rd Birthday.  It originally came with a synthetic stock.  I found a beat up wooden stock at the local gun store for $10.  Completely refinished it and brought it back to life.  The scope is a Simmons that was on a 30-06 bolt gun I sold in 2012.  Screwed a rail to the bottom of the fore-end and attached a cheap $25 bi-pod.

Far from high-end but it's mine and I enjoy it as is.

I bought a stainless takedown about 4 years ago, 4000 rounds of ammo, about 4-5 each of 10, 15 and 25 round mags, a replacement buffer and a few other parts. Still haven't even fired the stock rifle. Next thing I want is the Magpul backpacker stock.
