This, the 70's as a whole is a good example of what happens when half of the country does ALL the drugs they can get their hands on for the decade before.

I cannot criticize motorcycles from ANY decade. They were all good.

Though the early 80s Japanese cruisers got off to an ugly start (anyone remember the Suzuki Madura?).

The Bell helmet that cracked at the seams around my head in '87 looked exactly like that.

My brain didn't leak out of my ears, but my face would have preferred the full-face Shoei that I'd left at home that day, I'm sure.

Was born in 1956, so the 1970s carried me through high school and college.

I feel cheated. The 1970s had the worst music imaginable, from utter dreck like Captain & Tenille to embarrasingly silly glitter rock to complete shit like disco.

Yes, there were a few good bands and some epic songs, but that was the minority in the music world.

TV sucked 100%. Love Boat. Mork & Mindy. Laverne & Shirley. The Brady Bunch. The only thing worth watching was reruns of Bugs Bunny cartoons.

Cars were ugly. Clothing fashion was retarded. Interior design style was a joke.

I cannot hate the 1970s enough.

The 1980s were awesome, and a much-needed antidote.

I was born in 60. Music to me was more of a semi decade thing. Around '65 to around the late 70s generally kicked ass. Then disco  and pop country started to take over in the mid 70s for the next several years  which sucked ass.

There was a decent amount of good music from then into the mid to late 80s that was almost  obscured by all the hair "metal " bullshit ,which at the time was about as bad as the disco and pop country from 10 years before.

The 90s came along and it was like a breath of fresh air.

I tore-ass around here, and the rest of the country, on a Kawasaki 454 LTD. It carried me over the Rockies, burning an exhaust valve in the process, and on to Sturgis, where a Bandito stuck a bag of rice on the left mirror.

Of course, on that trip, I rode a hardtail shovelhead chopper belonging to a friend, as he rode my bike, until we got to Newcastle, WY, where we switched up. "I just can't be seen riding into Sturgis on a Jap-Bike", he said.

Asshole...

Truth! We only had 2 restroom choices and everyone was okay with that. No worries about offending someone at every turn or being labeled a sexual predator for hitting on a woman. Far fewer fat asses and much smaller welfare roles.

Not saying that those were better times, just simpler and less stressful. Everyone was about as messed up as any generation before or since in one way or another but we weren't compelled, nor had the means, to broadcast our every thought or emotion to the world like people do today.

"Cars sucked".....are you kidding???  You must mean new cars. In the 70s Every cool 1960s muscle car could be bought for a few hundred dollars.  My buddies and I would street race almost every night and scour the junkyards by day looking for parts to fix them.   What I would give for Saturday night in 1975 just one more time!

I only had the 500 at the time and nearly killed myself a few times. I honestly believe if I'd have had the 750 or 900, I wouldn't be here to type this. Those bikes were crazy straight line fast.  Handling and stopping,  not so much.

The twin into a cafe racer is much more widespread than hipsters or communist cities.  Some of them are pretty damn slick.
