They sell them in Australia and they have stricter rules than we do. If Toyota thought they could sell enough to be profitable they'd send some here for crash testing but they'd also be competing against the Tacoma and Tundra.

I was Toyota’s Australia site looking at those a couple days ago. I love them but my real question is why don’t they sell the Hilux here?? Damn things are EVERYWHERE overseas.

I saw one of those in Saudi years ago.
It was converted into a sorta-kinda Deuce and a Half for moving Filipinos. Anyway, it got hit by a Saudi in another car and overturned. The poor bastards never had a chance. |

If Toyota imported that they would want $70k barebones, probably.
I think they would sell, I see a lot of Defender 90/110's driving around. Not the US commercial ones that go for a bunch of money on the used market, the no shit old school models; Surfer/beach bums, trendy artsy women, you name it. I think they look cool as hell. |

even when Toyota sold Land Cruiser pickups(1963-1967) in the US they were never a huge seller, but in many parts of the world they were. small cab, slow(compared to V8's) smaller bed than domestics(even though the 45 long bed was a 1 ton)
