The lumber yard I worked at hired some laid off UAW workers, they were all fired for laziness. One guy built a nest hidden in the stacks of insulation so he could nap. Others seemed to work in slow motion, no idea of hustle. The notion of doing a good job seemed to make them feel like suckers, as if doing what they were paid to do was selling out to the man. They also engaged in casual theft like it was their due compensation. UAW no bueno. Back when I worked in a GM building they actually had a union elevated operator! This guy probably took four breaks an hour and when he did work all he did was punch the button for the floor we wanted and give us a hard time because we wore suits. We were a contracted IT for this group. But, we could not move computers. We had to coordinate with union labor for them to move the computers. One night I had a grievance filed against me for removing a laptop computer from the building myself. |

I’ve known many union workers that voted conservative over the years, especially after Clinton was elected. Their leadership will tell them to vote Democrat, but not all of them do. I think more and more of them are realizing the Democrats don’t support them anymore.
