Well, I'm still working my way bit by bit through the Horus Hersey series of audiobooks (great for when I'm doing cardio).
Fulgrim was excellent! The steady slide of an Imperial Legion from the ideal perfect Emperor's warriors into absolute madness/chaos was really well done. Some the chapters were like they were describing scenes from a "Hellraiser" film to the point where it was pretty damn disturbing. I'm about 1/3rd of the way through Descent of Angels and while it had a real slow start it's starting to pick-up. I've got a long haul to go before I get through the entire Horus Hersey and then the Siege of Terra books, plus I'll have the Primarch books to read through as well. I smartened up and got Audible though and it's saving me money over buying the audiobooks on iTunes. Really great narration so far for all the audiobooks. This whole ordeal will likely take me a few years. I find it amazing that there are people who have read all the books and even done detailed analysis of the lore for YouTube like the Youtuber Luetin. It's a massive amount of material to get through. |

However, so far even without him I'm enjoying the books. Loken was really easy to identify with even though he's a Space Marine. They have also done such a good of making the Primachs actually leaders I could respect and like even if some of them do eventually fall to chaos. Horus was a good leader at the start and I even really liked Fulgrim. |

The "Angels of Death" animated film was awesome (would have been better in full color though) and I'd love to get more content like it. The Helsreach animated movie was one of the finest piece of entertainment I've ever seen. The story was amazing, I just wish the animation had been a bit better. I know that in the start of it they were going for a sort of artist look, but it was still just an incredible story and woooh, what an ending. I'm new to Warhammer, but the more books I read and the more videos I watch the more I'm getting into it. Probably just a matter of time before I'm playing the table top game and painting Space Marines. |

Helsreach The Movie (2019) (RBoylan Film) (1080p) Put this on a big screen and enjoy it with some popcorn. I listened to the entire Audiobook after seeing this film and it is also excellent. They also I believe worked in conjunction with one another so it's possible they were coordinating on a sort of writing style to keep cohesion. View Quote The new codex matches my playstyle perfectly. I haven't played in a few weeks, but I've been playing 1-2 games per week before and after codex release. I would say they play very, very good although the strategy is basically the same, minus the two general army builds. Mostly, people are either doing an Invocatus alpha-strike build or a classic style army with bezerkers and Rhinos. Either one you're taking 3+ squads of Bezerkers and at least 1 squad of Eightbound. Kharn works like a loyalist lieutenant, but hits like a ton of bricks. Angron is very strong, but he can be easy to sink Blood Tithe points into rather than army buffs. Invocatus is a must-take if you don't take Angron. On the subject of Blood Tithe, I've found that using it for exploding 6s, +1" charge and 6+ Feel-no-pain is the way to go on spending them. If you're facing Eldar, Tyranids or 1k Sons, maybe the 5+ against mortal wounds. Secondaries are easy to score. I've been able to hit 75+ VP per game since the new codex. Always keep 2 BTP to throw away for the secondary and get an easy few VP. Attached File |

I want a WE codex, though I dont even bother with 9th ed, especially since the rumor is 10th is getting dumbed down to AoS rules.
We play a modified 5th-7th ed rules. It’s fun as shit having your Berzerkers secure an objective they need to run back with, only for them to blood rage into the enemy… or to lose half a squad to dangerous terrain while crossing through it (fuck you razorwing birds). |

I've decided I'm going to go with the Black Templars.
This Spring I'm going to make myself a real nice table for painting and then get into it. In the meantime, I'm still working my way through the Horus Heresy audiobooks and I just purchased my 4th Warhammer t-shirt for the gym. I'm full in on this stuff. I always thought it was too geeky, but Warhammer is way more metal than any other Science Fiction IP out there frankly. The Henry Cavil series better be focused on Space Marines. I don't want inquisitors or any thing else, just give me some Astartes. Honestly, if Henry played Grimaldus I'd be a happy man. |

Last night GW announced 10th Ed 40k.
Some highlights: -The game will be "streamlined" - I'm not sure exactly what that means, but a lot of what follows could be interpreted as streamlined. -All units in the game will have updated rules available for FREE online on the date 10th drops -Eventually those will be replaced when codexes are released -Every army's army-wide rules are said to fit on a single page. No more of this rules spread over 20 pages of the codex, multiple campaign supplements, and White Dwarf issues. -There is supposed to be a website and new app available at launch where army rules and units will be available along with an army builder -Force org restrictions sound like they're going out the window. -Army building supposedly goes like this: Pick your faction, pick your commander, select units until you hit your predetermined points limit. Only restrictions are no more than six of the same Troops units, no more than three of the same of any other unit. (i.e. you can't bring 7 units of WE Berzerkers, or 4 units of Striking Scorpions) -Each unit's entire rules and statline will be sized to fit on an index card. -According to the livestream, you go into the app or on the website, build your army and you can print it off. Your army-wide rules on one page, your unit cards on the other pages. All you'll need to bring to a battle is your rulebook and the several pages you print off for your army. -Stratagem bloat is gone. The stratagems available will be determined by your faction and commander choice, and you'll get six. I assume that a lot of the unit rules from 8th that became stratagems in 9th will be going back to being unit rules. -Unit stats remove WS, BS, and S from the statline and moved them into weapon stats. As an example, now a Terminator unit's weapon section will list a Power Sword at WS 3+ and a S of 4, while it might also list a Chainfist at WS 4+ and S of 8. -Toughness, contrary to rumors, did not leave -Boarding Actions has been added as a game mode in the main rulebook and for the foreseeable future is a part of 40k. |
