They are still in business link

I guess they didn't scale back as much as I thought they did. They just closed everything in central Texas.

Two more brands that are gone, but maybe not as famous as others listed:

Bama Jams and Jellies

Big John's baked beans - came as two separate cans taped together.

Two more well-known brands of TV:

Admiral and Quasar.

And the one I miss most - Quincy's Steakhouse. Just two left in the Carolinas. I'd pay well to know what they did to tenderize their meat. Old HS friend who worked there said they just drug it through their tenderizer formula very quickly prior to grilling.

I have the JC Higgins 12 ga double barrel (rebranded Stevens 311) that my mother bought my father for Christmas '59 when I was one year old. I have a Ted Williams single shot .22 that was my Christmas present wen I was 12.

Technically, there's ONE left in Sturgis, MI but is it just a name and graphics or is it the real company?  It's funny to see abandoned Hot n' Now buildings 20 years later or they've turned into drive-through ice cream or coffee places.  It'll never be the same.

I remember Corinth, MS having a Gibson’s and a ‘magic mart’?

Magic mart would have been in the 1980’s. I think it was a separate chain from the one in VA.

Datsun was just the name of Nissan's US company. They discontinued it for various reasons.

The reason why they didn't want to start it with the name Nissan is because it means "Japan Made" and they thought that might not go over too well so soon after WWII.
