True. I'm thinking my next 1911 is going to be a stainless, full-size in 9mm. Not sure what brand I want to go with.

I liked the Colt Competition I messed with a few years ago, but I don't like the Colt billboard. Maybe a stainless TRP or Loaded if they come in 9mm.

I picked up a railed 5" earlier this week, it's not an Alchemy. I'll try and post it when I get home today.

Not meant to be a safe thread post.

What if you went with something similar, but more exotic and traditional-like a .38 Super Auto?

I'm not sure. My buddy probably paid north of $2300 for it used. Pictures don't do it justice. It's even nicer in person. The finish is called "Smoked Nitride" and it has that worn bluing affect, but it's a Nitride finish.

The Python ended up being a piece of junk, so my buddy sold it yesterday.

I've been trying (perhaps not trying too hard) to find a black 10mm Specialist since 2019, with other gun projects and priorities mixed in over the last few years.

Looking at DW's current product line on their website they now only list the 10mm model in stainless which led me to believe the black model had been discontinued. They also only list the optic ready model in .45. As it turns out, the 10mm duty coat model has been replaced by the new optics ready version (SKU: 01794) which I just happened to stumble upon when looking for a Colt in .38 Super last month.

I haven't been able to shoot it yet but have a case of Magtech FMJ ready to run through it out of several Tripp mags.

The same buddy I was posting about had that same model of Specialist (.45 optics ready) and the optics plate kept coming loose. He eventually got it sorted, but keep an eye on it. Even with loctite it was coming loose.

Well, I meant to shoot my lw champion today at a match but grabbed the wrong ammo can. Son of a bitch. I stood there scratching my head about what to do. I went to my car and scrounged enough .38 to shoot the whole match with.  It was a bug gun match so everyone would shoot 6 rounds with a bug then dump it and transition to their primary.

I just shot the whole match with my 3" Karl Sokol k frame. I actually didn't feel I did half bad either.

Since I didn't have any pouches or support gear my first reload was kept in my mouth with the rest in my pockets.

All done in the rain.

My son even got in on the action. The last stage he started with his 3" k frame airsoft gun and then moved onto his highpower since his 1911s have been going fully auto lately.

Nothing wrong with a 1911.

Really, any gun made by a quality manufacturer, that you practice with regularly, is adequate.

I have been trying to carry and shoot my older SA Loaded more. I don't have a ton of rounds through it, but it's been 100% so far. It is hard to convince myself to carry this over my trusty 19.3. I'm not worried about reliability or 9mm vs 45. I just have SO MUCH Glock trigger time.

Practicing draw and shoot, dry firing with snap caps helps

Since having kids and having my free time decimated I have become a real big fan of realistic gas blow back replicas.
Ironically I saw serious improvement training with a glock airsoft gun, having been really set in my ways on a 1911
Easy to find 10 minutes to practice draw, shoot, move, reload in the back yard, and it fit my ccw holster.

Still need real range time, but when I do go to the range I feel like there are less cobwebs to shake out

you might consider something like this

Can anyone speak to the fitment of 1911s in 2011 holsters? I want something that will fit the Specialist with an X300T and RMR on it, but actual 1911 options seem a little slim. Right now the only holster I have that will fit a railed 1911 is for an M45A1 without the light attached, but since I don't have salad fingers the beavertail gets in the way of disengaging the SLS hood.

RDR Gear makes a modified Safariland 6390 for the 5" Alchemy Quantico Hicap with light and optic, most importantly with M81 cordura wrap

I'm pretty sure it'll fit, but figured I'd ask before I wager $240 on it.

Why not ask RDR what they would recommend for a Specialist w your chosen light and optic?

In M81?

I use a US Duty Gear Staccato XC lightbearing holster for both my Specialist with PL350 and Prodigy with PL350 and SRO. The Specialist needs about 1/2 turn more on the retention screw than the Prodigy, but overall fit and retention is the same.

The USDG comes with some nice QOL improvements over the SL like getting rid of the damn muzzle rear cant. Ive also had better luck QC wise from USDG than I have SL.

I carried my RO elite Champion in a Tenicor Certum 3 for a 2011 for many years.  Probably THE most comfortable holster I have ever used.

I beat the shit out of the finish of the RO.
The holster DID come with a sheet of paper stating that it would cause wear.

It's nothing too extensive.  They just touched up my Alchemy with some fitting then re-finished in Ionbond.  I'm excited though.  Alchemy didn't offer DLC at the time I ordered mine and I really wanted it.

It’s here. Sorry, I didn't do too good of a job wiping it down before taking pictures.

Bueller Ballistics did the cut. Had that done last year.

No free swag, unfortunately.

I sent my Springer to EA so they could install a Kart barrel and EGW bushing. They called and recommended that I do the bowtie cut so I did. When I received my gun back they had forgotten to do the cut. They brought it back on their dime. When I got it back the second time the barrel feet were still hitting the VIS. The bowtie cut was too shallow. They brought it back again on their dime. When I got it back the third time the clearance was there, but the cut looked terrible. Like it had been cut with a worn cutter or something. The cut worked as intended so I just lived with it. As an aside, they also didn't polish the barrel throat or round the break over edge of the chamber. I had a couple of stoppages so I sent the gun to Wilson for their reliability package.

Straighten and square all frame lines
Ball-cuts on slide to match dustcover lines
Carry bevel on slide and frame
Modify disconnector rail with slot for disconnector
Install new Yost gold-line front sight - pin and match to round slide top
Install new Novak adjustable lo-mount sight in rear of slide
Install and fit new extractor and blend flush to end of slide
Install and fit new firing pin stop and blend to slide
Install and fit new extended ejector and pin to frame
Install and fit new plunger tube, new barrel bushing, and new grip bushings
Install and fit new solid trigger
Refinish entire gun and small parts in black DLC

Speaking of Buhler Ballistics, I was double lucky today and got this slide for the Staccato R in the mail today shortly after I picked up the custom Evolution Armory Colt SCG.

I had the Chambers RDSM and disconnector rail mod done to the slide.

I’ve planned on sending my Grandfather’s Gold Cup to Evo for many, many years. Every time I come up with the funds, I wind up buying another gun.

The USDG comes with some nice QOL improvements over the SL like getting rid of the damn muzzle rear cant. Ive also had better luck QC wise from USDG than I have SL.

Looks like these fit QLS forks and have a similar retention mechanism to Safariland's SLS. Ordered one this morning for a Staccato XC with X300.

Glad to help, man. They most definitely fit QLS forks and the Level 2 bale is identical to an SLS. They are building using Safariland's old tooling/former facility/former employees. Hope it does what you need.

Bonus points, with a QLS on a USDG, you can get negative cant without any extra plates, unlike Safariland.
