Is that Tula one of the models that Atlantic Firearms is selling? If so, what do you think of it? I'm seriously tempted to pick one up but want to make sure they're more than just overpriced WASRs or SARs.

no mine is much worse than that. its made from the same parts kits that they used though. They are made with unmatched tula parts kits, which are nice in my opinion. Worth it for the furniture alone. Mine was an unmatched kit with a us barrel on a bent flat receiver, barrel and receiver are blued the parts kits parts are original finish. I was going for a battlefield pickup look, and hit it up with scotch brite pads.

honestly the atlantic guns are way better than what I have. no dak spud receiver, and a really nice teflon finish. I wouldn't worry too much about the non-matching serial numbers it seems to work fine for me, and I trust atlantic to get them built right. They are way better than a WASR for sure. The non-matching parts kit is worth at least $300 alone, the receiver $50, barrel $100, build/paint/finishing would seem to be worth about $300 so they are charging a decent price. It would be nicer if they sold them for $650, but $750 I think thats a good buy still. I just wish they left the bolt painted instead of nickle plating it. I'm sure the performance is better but I like the classic look.

Mine just a WASR 10/63, but a darn good one! Not a failure to date.

I sanded and stained the stock with red Danish oil, added the Hogue and optic. I really love this rifle.

He is in California and there is a stupid law which requires the firearm to be a certain length. Since it is a folder, it is measured with the stock folded.

That is one retarded law.
I think I'd just run a fixed stock in that case.

Thanks!

There are a few out there that you can buy that are close to this one, but for the most part you'd have to get the parts and have it put together.  I've had quite a few people, off of forums and locally at ranges, ask me how much I would sell it for.  I think because it's an AK they expect a relatively low price, but there's a lot of money tied up in this thing and it's not a cheap build.  Here's a rough breakdown of just the parts cost;

-AK-Builder.com "Kyber parts kit" - $479
-Nodak reciever - $105
CNC Warrior muzzle brake and thread adapter - $110
Izhmash pistol grip - $30
Iron Wood fore-end - $80
HK sights - $80
Attero Arms red-dot mount - $90
Tapco G2 trigger - $25
JTE Hammer spring - $10
Krebs retaining plate - $8

So that's just over $1000 in un-assembled parts.  Then you need to pay for the tools, or the assembly.  This one had the barrel cut and threaded so that's extra.  I also had it completely re-finished in black-oxide.  Trigger job, mount and weld the HK sights, pin the front brake on...

I'm sure you get the picture.  So when I tell people what I would sell it for, or how much it would be to replicate it, I always expect a blank stare for a few seconds...

Howdy folks. This is my first post on the forums. Love the community y'all have built here- anyhow here she is–– P.S I am aware that the 1p78 optic is 5.45 calibrated but it serves the purpose just fine with 7.62x39 at the ranges I use it.
