My M16A4
http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/2562/pc310037w.jpg http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/138/pc290032.jpg Iraq gets cold as hellllll, a little FYI this is where we "hygeined". There was a table with a water bull and some mirrors. Fucking sucks. http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/2581/p1030057q.jpg This picture is something I'd like to point out to the AR haters. I own an AK as well as a Bushmaster and Stag, but the AR is by no means unreliable. This is how we cleaned our shit for 7 months. I *never ever ever ever* had any malfunction with my M16. Not a single time. And some days I put over 500 rounds in it...in a sandstorm. Not one single motherfucking time did my M16A4 ever jam, FTF, FTE, nothing. This is using issued USGI green follower mags and green tip ammo. I don't know what everyone else does wrong, but FN is doing something right. No matter how good you clean it, your AR will never be clean when you're in a two man tent with an AP brush and a month old rag. But it worked. Every single time. http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/1481/pc290023.jpg |

One last pic because I know someone doesn't believe me about the sandstorms...

Sorry guys this is my first rifle and my friend mislead me on a little info and told me to post here. My bad if 1 of the moderators could delete my pic that be great.

Post that rifle in the M4 pic thread. Looks good, but does not conform to the theme of this thread.

Not too bad IMO. The Kit received was the older style (uses the non-captured, allen head type retainer screw), but arrived in PERFECT condition! It was Sealed, with No Dents/Dings/Scratches/Ect. Decent Black coloring (not "purple"). What arrived was the complete military kit which included the upper & lower rail assemblies, the full set of all the various length rail cover panels (10 covers total), a KAC vertical fore grip, the M203 barrel stop adapter, a vinyl storage pouch, and the KAC installation instuctions. Not sure who (probably CDNN), removed the original military labeling off the box (cut out), but I'm not really that concerned with discovering CDNN's .mil supply sources. Based on the above experience, I will in all likeliness soon be purchasing a second set from them for my dedicated .22lr trainer A4 build... FlDiveCop71 (one really happy basturd ) (PICS TO FOLLOW SHORTLY) Can you go into more detail about this? Im trying to decide between a KAC M5 and an omega 12.0. I want something that locks up tight, and wont have any flex in it. Are the "newer" KAC rails tighter? |

Ok, though it's still a work in progress (just added the KAC M5 RAS), here's some pics of my M16A4 clone...
Attached File Attached File Attached File The kit came with a VFG (not shown), which (owing partially to past mil experience with this rail system) I decided to mount on my m4 carbine clone instead. I've found that with the VFG mounted @ the center of lower rail of the M5 ras, the lower rail will flex slightly when even mild lateral pressure is applied to the VFG. Though I know this to be "normal" for the KAC M5, I prefer not to subject the lower rail to such forces unless truly necessary (Just my personal preference - YMMV). I don't however notice this type of flex when using the VFG with the M4 carbine RAS. Aside from the lower rail flex (when using a VFG), there is no other movement out of the entire M5 system that I'm able to perceive, and the top rail is absolutely immobile & inflexible. For this clone project I next plan on looking into getting a better sling system as well as a butt stock mag pouch. After that I'll have to decide whether to take the plunge on optics with this project, or switch gears & finish my dedicated .22lr build... FlDiveCop71 |

Just an observation, but the top rail in this photo is improperly mounted... (the spring tang is suppose to rest inside/underneath the front end cap, not on top of it...) On a side note: That's one really nice weapon system you have set up there. I'm actually rather envious of it. Hope this helps... FlDiveCop71 |

That is an excellent 'civvie' M16A4. I don't think you could get any better than that. You seem to be ready for 'the 'Stan'. Short of that, you're going to have to get it dirty and wear off some finish to get 'the look'. That's the part I hate - 'aging' it after going to all that trouble and expense. I'm working on a puny carbine version (middie) but am actually looking forward to shooting it - hopefully a lot more than I ever shot my true carbines.

Yea I wish it was my issued rifle. Not in anymore but I built as close as I could to current specs with the funds that I had. CMMG gov profile upper, Old preban bushmaster lower, correct acog, Kac, grip pod, Old beat up surplus stock. Not sure on sling but I got it off the EE, and Kyloned magazine. this is my favorite rifle |

I could have swore when the rifle was first contracted out and delivered, it didn't have the M5 fore end, can anyone confirm?
Based on my research, it seems that the army uses a few M16A4s without the rail and adds MWS to the name for those with a rail. |

koldt: what brand flare launcher is that? most flare guns look so lame, that actually looks like a 203.
