Thanks Plinkr!! You will have one!!! It took me forever to finally get this one but I managed. Of course I'm eating top ramen for a couple months.

I was frustrated, so I'll try again later. I put it together in my hotel room, hence my impromptu vice Original HBAR had a date of 10/08. Lower has the large FGC pins and screw type front take down. Gonna get that fixed at Adco :) (the front take down pin) Luv them A4's! http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/2692/jul230008.jpg Are they issuing M16A4s with M4 feed ramps now? |

No they are not. There is no need for M4 ramps in an A4

Isn't the lack of M4 cuts in the barrel extension going to be a problem? Nice gun & love the bayonet. |

Both the upper and barrel have M4 cuts. The upper is a Colt M4, and the SDI barrel has an M4 extension.
I agree they are not necessary, but most barrels come with them now. |

Well, dammit, now I have a new project to do. I stumbled on this thread last week on vacation, and that got the wheels turning. Within a few hours I had an M5 rail system headed my way, and the day I got back I picked up a TA31F and a new MATECH. Now I'm trying to figure out what upper to use, and considering ordering an Armalite lower instead of using one of the RRA or Stag lowers I have laying around.
Looks like it's going to be pretty easy eating through that check the Army sent to apologize for the involuntary extension / stop loss thing back in 2005 Anyone care to opine over the option of building on a new FN barrel or a BCM one? I would assume that their accuracy would be more or less identical, but maybe I'm assuming too much. Saleen |

My first picture post on AR15 ahhaha. This is how it all started for me...reading the M16a4 clone thread. So here's my BCM upper and Rock River lower.

I thought I was done adding to my rifle collection after recently finishing a MK12 mod 0. I'm now working on an M16A4. Lower is basically done and upper will be in on Monday. Does anyone know of a good source for the handguard other than ordering directly from KAC? BCM is the only online source I've found and they're out and don't know when more will be in.

You can find them in the EE fairly regularly & you can check with operationparts.com. |

However, the BCM barrel extension has M4 feed-ramps, so this would be a minor deviation from spec, if that is important to you. From what I'm told, they don't make it feed any better in the M16A4, so it doesn't have them. Otherwise, I think it would be functionally identical, and unless you looked inside you wouldn't be able to tell the difference other than the roll marks. |
|
|
Well, according to the tracking numbers, the Big Brown Truck should drop off my new Armalite lower and BCM upper for this build today. If the post man cooperates and brings the Matech rear sight, all will be well in the world and I can maybe put some holes in the target on Friday when I'm off work.

Very cool, I'll be working on mine soon as I get my upper from CMMG and pick up my CMMG lower, I picked up a new Colt Gov't Profile barrel 20" w/o FSB Chrome lined 1:7 for $165 and a brand new KAC rail with three panels for $100, that was the deal of the day I thought.
I had an A4 set up, but I sold it, stupid, stupid, stupid, shoulda woulda coulda as they say. Frank |
