Getting there boys. Need a MK12 gas block and a SF 3-prong to pin on and she'll be functional.

Skip the DD MK12 gas block and get a Compass Lane engineering one.  Half the price and the same quality.

All of our military contracts have been black non QD.  We have done other military sales for QD stocks in various colors, both Sopmods and Bravos.  You will see more of our Coyote stocks than FDE in the "wild."

These guys have sopmod approved mounts for razor 1-6 and mark 6 1-6.  Do we need to add sopmod approved optics to block ii or are these still personal purchases?

SOPMOD Certified Super Precision Scope Mount, specifically made to be used with Vortex 1-6 Scopes.

Not going to lie, this is how I'm hoping mine turns out. Just waiting to get the funds to send it to Adco for a pin/weld. And only pieces painted on mine are the furniture and rail, went with the N1 stock as well but using the Midwest Industries QD piece for N1 stocks for the moment

She's a hefty, front heavy, pig. And I love it. I'm used to M4s with M203, M16s and M27s. A rifle that isn't front heavy feels weird in my hands. They point better too.

Sighted in the T-1. Easiest sight in ever, got my irons on then cowitnessed the dot. 580 flawless rounds.

Some lovely paint discoloration and smoking paint

And helpful FYI, if you plan on shooting quickly, don't expect the SOCOM barrel and rail to cool down quickly and especially don't remove your one rail cover and touch here

Nice, A Running Pony instead of a Prancing Pony (I've got several Andersons at home)

Anyway this Fathers Day did some shooting with my son's detachment here in Baghdad this morning.  Could still hold my own on some of the drills.    Course he didn't deploy with them as the team sergeant as he's reporting into Bragg this week as an sniper instructor.  Damn is 51 years old????

There's no such thing as a full black Block II. If you have a black rail, you don't have a clone, so put whatever you want on it.

That said, you could always rattle can the whole thing and nobody would know. Then the ELCAN would look right at home.

Here are the pics of the Razor II 1-6 in Geissele SOPMOD mount as requested:

ETA:  Sorry for the huge first pic.  Also I have an Insight MRDS to replace the Fast Fire but the previous owner of the Insight used blue Loctite to attach it to an ADM mount.  So its looking like detaching the MRDS from the mount will probably be this weeks project.

She is a little front heavy.  But with the AFG she feels really comfortable.  I tried a VFG as well as just some rail covers and a hand stop before going towards the AFG, thanks largely impart of the recommendation of MNRidesHonda.  I would recommend taking a look at his set up as well as its rather similar.

I think I stole the KAC mount idea from a MK18 with a KAC mount and Aimpoint T1 or T2 offset.

Also with this set up it still has enough room to mount a Harris Bipod on an Arms mount up front if I ever wanted to join the RECCE crowd.

I was pretty much hanging out in the MK12, RECCE, MK18, and Block II threads for a minute before I built this.

Nope. There may be some random unit that purchased a couple black rails at some point with personal funds, who knows, but we've definitely never seen pictures of them if they even exist. Every picture anyone has ever posted thinking it was black was just dark and bad lighting.

We did see some pics from someone on here from some random unit that had a bunch of black FSP rail (IIRC) with scopes on them in sort of a recce configuration - but those were purchased with unit funds and were not Block IIs.

By very definition a Block II is an M4A1 using "SOPMOD Block II" accessories. The only rail in the current SOPMOD contract is the Daniel Defense RIS II in FDE.

I also find it funny when people try to argue this stuff. The contract is for the FDE rail. The SOPMOD contract is also for the Gen 1 SOPMOD stock.

Yes, the government went through a multi-year multi-million dollar contract renegotiation so they could get different color rails and qd sling attachments.

lolol, I'm not even sure what that means. I'm definitely no expert, just a nerd who likes guns. But I will say half the shit that gets argued about on these clone threads just defies common sense.

An even basic understanding of the logistics involved with military testing, contracts and procurement would prevent most of the dumb stuff that gets suggested here.

Go for it. Lots of Vltor stocks in use. I had a FDE IMOD on my issue M4 for a while before I switched to a CTR.

With the Navy it could be pretty much whatever the teams want.  But ultimately you're right in saying it's not a blk2 if it isn't a proper configuration, it would be something different. I guess if you were a fan of a particular unit specific configuration you could start a new thread and name it accordingly.

Rock it. There's not a lot of stocks that don't show up in pics often at this point … besides Gen 2 SOPMODS lol. VLTORs show up all the time.

You could make that argument about any unit under SOCOM. I don't know if we've ever seen a SOCOM unit (SF, Raiders, SEALs, etc…) that doesn't have discretion and their own funds to get the shit they want.

Sort of. I mean for the purposes of this thread, sure. But "Block II" isn't even some official designation for a rifle. A U.S. Military M4A1 is an M4A1 no matter what rail it has on it. Block II is just the name Crane used to describe the latest issued iteration of SOPMOD accessories. We just call them "Block IIs" here on ARFCOM because it's an easy bucket to throw things in and have at least some level of definition.

This thread is definitely about M4A1s kitted with SOPMOD Block II accessories. There's a shit ton of units that have real M4A1s that wouldn't even fit in this thread.

Goes back to the "issue" versus "seen in the wild" argument:  there is a fairly limited and simple configuration that is "issue" and then there's seen in the wild which includes pretty much anything you can imagine.

If you want to build an "issue" clone, it's pretty straight forward.

If not, do whatever you want because chances are it has been seen in the wild.

Sounds like a great way to spend Father's Day!!!

You're just getting started.  51 is nothing.  My Dad was shooting with me into his late 60's early 70's.

Block II rifle as it sits now. I really like this configuration and plan on keeping it this way.

Besides watching the EE, any line on a tan 553? I saw one sell in the last few days for $600, and one before that for $300. Seems to vary in price quite a bit.
