I have a few questions as most of the pics here are of clones and Block II inspired builds rather than real deal pics. the real pics that are here are buried.
#1. Trigger guards. Are Magpul trigger guards in use and if so, how common are they? Is it an issued item or swapped out by the end user? #2. Receiver end plates. Are they all CQD or are there standard ones in use also? Are there any with QD attachments rather than the ring for the hooks to rattle on? Same question for the front attachment. #3. Charging handles. I vaguely remember seeing that both standard and PRI charging handles are used. Are the BCM charging handles in use also? #4. Grips. Has anyone seen A BCM grip being used or would I be more correct to go with a MIAD? Correctness matters to me most so I want to get it as close as I can. So far I'm 100% correct so I'd like to keep it that way. (other than the "auto" feature of course) |

As a result rifles "in the wild" are often found in tons of variations with somewhat of an exception to the RIS II rail and SOPMOD II issued optics though as evidenced by stukas87's articles over at defense review we have seen that even these accessories are sometimes removed by the end user. What I'm getting at is that I wouldn't really say there's a 100% correct Block II rifle so if I were you I would feel free to change out the smaller parts that are user preference items such as the pistol grip, stock, etc. because that's what the end users of the actual rifles do as well. Perfectly as issued would be a different story but it doesn't sound like that's what you're going for as much(and neither am I). To specifically answer your questions, I can recall seeing two pictures where magpul trigger guards were in use. Both were on M4's that still had Knights RAS rails attached but block II accessories and were older (2009 and 2010 I think) As for end plates, there are definitely standard end plates in use. Probably more in fact but it's not really a part I particularly look for in every picture so don't quote me on that. For example these five rifles: https://i.imgur.com/LGzv6sp.jpg For charging handles while I can't remember seeing any pictures of BCM charging handles (another part I don't really look for), butttt Stukas87 did briefly mention they were very popular on the M4's and CQBR's he was seeing in Afghanistan in one of his articles. For the BCM pistol grip here's his work rifle: https://i.imgur.com/RT1BOgC.jpg What a fantastic source he is. Reminding me while I'm at it here's the link to his first of three articles on accessories being used by himself and his fellow soldiers overseas which I certainly learned a lot from and found very interesting: http://www.defensereview.com/tactical-ar-15m4m4a1-carbine-aftermarket-accessories-for-military-combat-applications-the-competition-to-combat-crossover/ To reiterate, I personally don't see a problem with any of the pieces you proposed using because once again the guys down range switch their stuff out according to their own preferences as well as they have been Seen "in the wild". Standard or (fairly rare) PRI; sometimes guys go with BCMs since they are easy to swap. #4. Grips. Has anyone seen A BCM grip being used or would I be more correct to go with a MIAD? A2 is most common with an A1 every once in a while plus "others" seen ITW. Correctness matters to me most so I want to get it as close as I can. So far I'm 100% correct so I'd like to keep it that way. (other than the "auto" feature of course) View Quote I know it's been covered/answered, but since you asked, my $0.02 worth. Even though guys who are issued CQBRs & Mk18s can usually make some minor mods, most mil guys are not gun guys and even if they are it isn't common to see a lot of non-issue mods. Everything has been seen in the wild; one can always find/post a pic of any given accessory, optic, whatever, but what you don't see are the thousands of other "standard issue"/unmodified weapons for every non-standard one. If you want to clone a rifle that is similar to what 99% of our guys are carrying, stick to the basics unless you are cloning a specific weapon you saw (or were issued?). I know it's not as sexy, and there are better parts/configurations available, but that's not what most guys are carrying (if correctness matters). |

After some thought I'll likely go with an as issued look on this one as I'm poor and already have all of those parts. The biggest deviation I will have is the TA31 ACOG. #1. Because I want an ACOG and need an excuse. #2. Because the Elcan is just too far above what I can spend right now. |

I would try the ACOG before you buy the ACOG; they're great optics but (like the Elcan) they aren't for everybody. We snagged some T1s out of retro so some of guys were able to replace their EOTechs with those. The rest of us are still waiting to see what they're going to do with (replacing) our EOTechs. |

I really wanted to love the TA31F I had, but the eye relief, and its shortcomings at close distances made me go back to the T-1 on the Block II.
Plus once I put together my SEAL Recce it took the medium/long range role with a variable scope If the Block II gets magnification again it's either Elcan or some kind of 1-4 variable. |

I tried one out at the LGS, I liked it there but I only held it for maybe ten seconds, not enough time to know if it's for me or not. I would like a T1 but I already have an Aimpoint on another rifle and would like something different I guess. A 1-4 isn't out of the question either. |

View Quote I have a 1-6 on one of mine right now, and for an outside weapon it is great. I've used a 1-4 on them as well, and also had good results. There are lots of good variables in the price range or even cheaper than an ACOG. See if you can borrow one from a buddy, or play around with one for awhile in a shop. |

I'm thinking of swapping my CTR for a CAR stock, someone tell me why I shouldn't.
CAR stocks look at home on Block II's. |
