Replace the DD billboard upper with any mil-spec forged M4 upper. Don't you have easy access to Diemaco stuff up there? That'd be perfect and badass. Would also take care of the gay fake paint all at once.

Colt Canada/Diemaco is readily accessible.

My personal SA20, almost a perfect clone of my work rifle, minus the fun switch.

Yeah, gave the upper a squirt of Krylon this morning, will just use it as is.

Will do for now till I get a Colt upper.  Colt Canada hasn't sold any stripped uppers yet, tons of stripped lowers.  There were surplus fixed carry handle C8 uppers selling for $400, but not the right upper.  Guess it would be wierd to build a Mk18 clone on a Colt Canada lower?

Much bettah. Would not be weird on a Colt Canada lower. Technically not AS correct, but I can tell you your lower would be coveted. Diemaco/CC shit is pretty coveted by us Americans. We are lucky to find a stripped Diemaco upper receiver let alone lower. I say go for it.

If it weren't for ITAR, we could easily throw bits and peices in the mail to you guys :(

Have a pile of stripped Colt Canada lowers so  I could probably build one into a Mk18 lower as long as I won't be tarred and feathered, lol!

Looks nice! A little laundry bag earth brown wouldn't hurt, but that brightness will fade pretty quickly with handling and usage. Between the natural oils in your hands, lubricant and carbon it will definitely darken up. The Rustoleum Camo "Sand" color I used as the base for my Mod 0 rattle can job looked just about like that when new, and it faded to a darker color within a relatively short time.

And I say go for the Colt Canada lower; it's fitting. You're a Canadian cloner, why not have a Canadian lower? I think it'd be pretty unique and snazzy.

I just mist my guns with brown now. Stopped using the laundry bag. I think the laundry bag makes too defined of patterns or lines.

Stand back and just mist in some brown to the tan and you'll be good.

Lol....yes those are only temporary. It's a G2S that's in there and I lost the clips that capture the pins somewhere and couldn't find them. So as soon as I quit being lazy and grab another set, those are going....I wanted to slap it together and that's all I had

To the disdain of my wife, I got my man-barbies out and started swapping parts around :

I dunno, they look sort of weird with the Canadian lowers.  Also, going way off topic, I did up my Mk12ish clone as well, and just doesn't feel right.

There's a company called SFRC, and if I recall correctly, weren't they willing to export some Diemaco stuff to the US?  They were the ones who had surplus fixed carry handle C8s for $450 or something like that.  They also had these surplus Diemaco marked BCGs for $189, very, very slick bcgs.

Thanks :)

I think we should put a petition together to elininate ITAR between Canadastan and the US, so we can get hard to find  Mk12 and Mk18 parts, and Diemaco parts can be easily sent to the US :)

If I recall correctly, R is for repetition.  Since these are commemorative versions of our issued C7s, they left the selector markings the same, and the issue one is supposed to be bilingual.

I was kinda thinking that or the French translation but wasn't for sure what the translation is for "safe" so I didn't know if it started with an "s" or not.

We were required to take either Spanish or French in HS. I chose Spanish because it was "easier" and I had to cheat my way through with a "D", so I could imagine how bad my French would have been.

Cool gun, but doesn't belong here. There is not a single MK18 / CQBR part on that gun.

This looks way better. Like people are saying, dusting it with brown or green will tone it down a bit. Diemaco uppers are pretty easy to come by down here in the US, figured they'd be easy up there. Either way, even any mil-spec forged would work good if you want to get back to the black look. Painted is nice tho.

I'd give my left nut for one of those Diemaco textured CAR stocks. Love those things.

I agree with milspec about the uppers fake wear looking pretty terrible.  However iirc didn't DD send out complete mk18 uppers to some units/armorers or am I just remembering incorrectly?

Just trying to point out a DD upper is technically clone correct(if you want to save some coin) but I'm not sure if I'm just full of b/s on this matter or not.

Also not a fan of the DD laser engraved logo either but nothing a little Krylon can't hide.

Yes. DD has supplied COMPLETE uppers. To the mil. The link to their mil/gov uppers has even been posted in this thread on a few occasions. There are no DD markings on anything - the receiver, BCG, etc. DD has even personally confirmed this. Things never seem to change around here, though. The "powers ()" that be just can't have their narrative of one brand to rule them all destroyed. So, you'll keep tuning into CNN bias news until then.

Same here.. I have some Noveske's that are close to 10 years old and they still require a punch and hammer to get the pins loose.

You also have to remember your memory banks aren't fuckin fried like mine are.

Such as a few years ago when you originally told me the M4 used the H buffer and the M4A1 used the H2 buffer, I still misremembered it as both rifles using the H buffer for at least a solid year straight. I'm sure you remember that one.

My memory is the equivelant of scrambled eggs and I'm starting to realize its genetic. Moms side.

It gets old seeing you always claim these sources and never posting them. Glad to see nothing has changed in terms of you posting out your ass.
Hah. That's rich.

Considering it was me that originally posted the link to DD's mil/gov CQBR uppers in here, and that they're listed on DD's own .gov site, I'd say I'm quite in the loop on the subject. I know you were around to see the link/pictures/etc. Plenty around here have long seen the link/info regarding their mil configured and supplied CQBR uppers.

Beyond that, the national sales manager from DD himself has personally stated in here on more than one occasion that those same exact uppers have in fact been purchased by SOCOM. And not just one or once.

Frankly, I could give a shit what any of you Coltflakes think. DD complete CQBR uppers have been fielded. Period. Do they represent a fraction of a percent compared to Colt? Sure. That matters none pertaining to this subject, though.

People that care enough can search through this thread all they want. They'll find me linking to the exact uppers on DD's site at least twice over the years. And they'll also find Joe from DD personally stating in this thread that their CQBR uppers have been purchased, and are in use by the mil - in some capacity. Whether it's 1,000 of them, or two dozen of them, still irrelevant. They're there, and still being made and sold by DD to this day as well. DD isn't continuing to make and offer mil only CQBR uppers because no one is buying them...

You can believe whatever you want. I know many others in here that don't snort Colt flakes for breakfast also have long known the reality on this subject.

DD "SOCOM" Upper - Click - this is what I call a clue

I'm not participating in the argument or trying to dispute, but they sent the SOCOM an upper with a plastic dust cover? I do notice the lack of laser etching on the receiver at least.

An also interesting note in the ad says they used an A4 receiver (which would have no feed ramps on the receiver itself)

Intermeresting.

They recently changed the pics on their .gov site. First time it's had that dust cover, or the grip panels in the SOCOM upper pics. Was just a standard DD upper all around a couple years ago when I first shared it.

Anybody running a Griffin M4SDk or M4SD series suppressor on a Mod 1. I have a brownells mk18 upper. Test fit my hammer comp today. Seems even with all the included shims and overtravel stop I'm just shy of latch gate screws clearing rail. Might just use a second over travel stop as a spacer. Anybody else have this setup or maybe another griffin muzzle device with more clearance?
