Man, I see a lot of talk about the rail deflection; and even other companies owners' chiming in.
I'd love to see a drop test to compare all rails considered top notch. Mk16, RIS II, Hodge, URX, maybe even a BCM for funzies. If any companies want to volunteer some rails, I'll be happy to conduct a test :) |

Any of you guys using the PSA M4 or M4A1 lowers? I just ordered two.

I was curious about the quality, but I’ve never personally had an issue with PSA. I’m aware it’s not a real clone lower, but I’m not paying colt prices anymore. I’d rather spend it on ammo or optics. ETA: I ordered several of the lowers. I may have a problem... |

I think the Mk16 rail is uniquely suited for the pig and hog saddles, the large flats at the junction to the receiver gives a solid purchase area. I won't be clamping down anywhere else though. As for the tripod, I'll probably be upgrading the ball head to something a little higher quality. The pan joint has gotten a little clunky and doesn't rotate as smoothly it should. The ball joint is pretty smooth though and locks up solid when you need it to. |

What mounts are you guys using with your Vortex Razors? Mine is currently sitting in a Larue 104, and I just cant quite get the optic far enough forward to make the most out of the eye relief. Was thinking about making the switch to one of the Geissele extended mounts, or possibly the 1.93. Anyone have time on both mounts? Is the juice worth the squeeze to make the change?

What slot size Picatinny rail do I need for a clean WMX-200 (rotating model) install?
Also, does anyone with the WMX-200 (rotational mount) run them at 12 o’clock with the light rotated over to the 10:30 position (and the LA-5 just behind the taken up rail space)? |

What markings are on the actually-issued URGI upper rails on the left side? Is it a white p/n or a rolled nsn? Seems there were both types of commercial variants but most pics of the issued ones show the gun from the right side.

Ready to snag a URG-I upper.
If you had to choose between the Vortex Razor HD 1-6 and the Nightforce NX8, which one would be a better fit or which would you prefer? |

View Quote It depends. The Vortex has a much more forgiving eye box, but has less magnification. Normally with an LPVO you are either running it at 1x or full magnification. For that reason, I find the vortex better and more forgiving, since 6x is adequate out to 500ish for my eyes. The eye box on the NX is smaller. Nightforce is better glass quality, but also $600-800 more. |

View Quote I don't own either of those optics, but based on informal observations at shops, shows and with others' rifles, I would lean towards the Vortex. The weight and magnification of the NX8 is great, but the forgiving eye box (a biggie for me) and price point of the Razor would win me over. |

The Vortex's eye box is more forgiving and the reticle draws your eye to the center of the scope much faster. The Nightforce is usable at 1x it's just that the FFP reticle get's so small that there's a little more thinking involved to get on target. Anything at or past 3x and the Nightforce's reticle and glass out shine the Vortex by far. Given the large price difference between the two I am extremely impressed with the Vortex and would highly recommend it. If you're able to step up to the ATACR, I would do it. https://i.imgur.com/ZeAM9Xtl.jpg View Quote Thanks everyone - appreciate the info and your personal experiences. I was strongly considering cloning this rifle below, so I was leaning towards the NX8, but having not used either the NX8 or the Vortex 1-6 Razor HD, I didn't want to go blindly with the NX8 just because I saw it in a picture. |
