@DoubleARon

I have 2 of the 16" govt profile cut for the ops system and they shoot very well.  Can’t figure out how to post a picture, but about 1/2 MOA with the good ol’ Magtech mk262 clone stuff.  Same with BH 77gr.

That one I am not sure but the two currently listed aren’t marked as such. One is 2015 reproduction and the other says it comes in a triangular box (not sure of that significance). $3699 and $3400 respectively.

They’re smoking crack. A recon nav-spec will sit around a while at those prices

I’ve seen a few sell in the $2500 territory though

So what are the over 10x issued optics seen itw or at the sniper comp? Im building a MK12 and have a MK6 3-18 I was planning on running.

What I've seen over the years.

Mk6 3-18 on the state department guns
Mk5 3.6-18 on the sniper comps
3-15 premier on the sniper comp
NXS 3-15 on the rattle canned rifle.

Are there any other over 10x I'm missing?

Pretty sure this is a mk4 6.5-20x50?

Wasn’t there an ERT 6.5-20 on a mod 1?  I think @Shlouf may have done one but can’t remember for sure.  Would have to look for the pic.

Very cool! Forgot about that one. I think the mk6 makes the most sense. It's really light for an 18x optic and pretty compact.

The one saving grace of that barrel (other than price) was that it would group cheap ball ammo just as well as match ammo.

I replaced my BA with a Douglas from PRI and just doing some quick function checks/zeroing a few weeks ago, it seems to group Wolf Gold and PMC X-Tac well.

With your specified requirements above: Schmidt 3-12x

Over 10x but not quite “issued”: a couple of the Horus scopes (brand, not just reticle).  I don’t recall the exact models. They weren’t around long.  One had the illumination knob on the 12oclock of the ocular.

Runner ups that weren’t quite 10x:
- SWFA 3-9x ffp
- Horus blackbird 2

Wondering if it'd be worth it to send my barrel out to have that done. Were most of the FSGB put out during the MOD 0 time generally cross bolt style? Might not be worth the hassle.

I think the standard was the set screws, although most of the reference photos I have on my hard drive are too grainy to tell

Set screw.  No cross bolt that I’ve ever seen anyway.

ETA: I know earlier commercial PRI FSGB’s were offered in the cross bolt style as I had a couple gen 3 style with the old sight post with fully addy at one point (not current clamp style) but never seen one on an issued rifle nor heard of it being used on an issued mk12.  I know of at least two of those cross bolt FSGB’s that were sent off and welded and modified into set screw versions for clone builds by cloners much more knowledgeable than I.  So I’d wager they were never actually used on any issued rifles.

my mk12 mod 0 gas tube wont go back in. i pulled the pri upper off to install a tighter fitting colt upper and the barrel nut wont line up. i got it pushed over just enough to bend the gas tube and clear it then bend it back again once inside the receiver. bolt carrier fitted to gas tube inside just fine. thats when i noticed i needed to line up two more parts to run the gas tube through. im taking a coin toss in shop right now whether to fish the gas tube in from front or from the rear of receiver. its a mess.

how does the gas tube usually install on a normal mk12 mod 0? from front attached to gas block with handguard and top rail already installed correct? its a gen 1 less common pri not the later gen i see mostly if that helps. the gen 1 looks more unusual at rear of handguard. its the type that uses the 8 small set screws etc.

correction, its a gen 2 pri upper not gen 1. does the gas tube go on from front by fishing it thru the parts somehow like building a ship inside a bottle? heres a link to the upper.

i had to remove gas tube from gas block then make a brass tool to fit around gas tube tip then drive the gas tube thru with all parts alligned and have wife hammer on one end as i pressed hard on one side with custom screw driver tip modified. got it all worked out.

i had been working on it for many hours and needed a brake so asked just in case it helped. in the old days i would go on ak forum and ask something random and get like 5 or 10 replies by time i ate a sandwich.  didnt know how fast you guys might chime in but it was worth asking. i wasnt waiting around. gun is now ready for range.
