Did your Spear come in yet?

Nope. Nothing yet. Haven't even heard anything from Grab a Gun regarding forms or shipping.

At least I didn't have one already. At least they didn't package it with something useless. I'll take it, but I don't know if it'll replace my M&P 2.0.
MCX SPEAR 7.62. Must buy 87 Sig Tribal and/or rainbow edition P290s to complete your purchase. Probably shouldn't have written that. @coregon is probably taking notes. |

What optic?
I’m going to run the proper tango6t. I can’t find the correct alpha4 mount, but I do have a 30mm G mount that’ll work. https://www.rainierarms.com/sig-sauer-tango6t-1-6x24mm-ffp-riflescope-dwlr6-mrad/ |

Scopelist has the SOA30012 ALPHA3 mount on backorder, which has the same dimensions and color.
But as far as I can tell, the ALPHA4 mount is currently only available in a bundle with the 556 scope. |

Everything appears to be very nicely done. I could be one of those douchecanoes that bitches about how one tension screw for the handguard has less finish on it than the other, but I don't care. It's a tool. It's going to be used, scratched, dropped, etc.
This is the AR10 equivalent to the MCX. If you've never held or disassembled an AR10, you won't know what I mean until you do. You start pulling out that BCG, and it just keeps on coming and coming and coming. So everything on this feels outsized or gigantic, just like an AR10 is. The bolt face lugs and wall are flipping gigantic. It looks like this thing can take any pressure known to man. Fit and finish seems fantastic. The trigger shoe is a little more narrow than the Sig Duo trigger, but the pull is very nice. One of my Duos has a fantastic pull, the other is a little heavier. Both have a "rolling" break. The one on the SPEAR has a little more of a wall/second stage than my others. The spring is heavy and long. You can't baby charging the rifle. The right hand bolt lock/release is the best one I've ever felt. I have both Seekins and Radian versions, and this one is nicer and easier to operate. Even with a magazine in, it easily drops the bolt. FYI, it's loud and sets off my tinnitus. I had no problem pulling off the muzzle device. I removed the barrel and clamped it into my barrel vice. You have a barrel vice, right? You should. They're cheap and useful.I have a Mechforce, which seems pretty good so far. Clamped the barrel and put a 10" Kinipex Pliers Wrench on it. Popped right off. Put on a Sig taper DA micro flash suppressor. Looks almost identical, but all my silencers are Keymo. I'm hoping to shoot it today, even if it's just at my place. ETA: Buffer tube is hollow inside. No back. I'll try to make(3d print) a modern version of the WWI spare parts container. |

Man those 25 round lancers are huge. That pic puts it in perspective. Happen to have any magpul 25's? wondering how those two compare. Sweet rifle. I want the 13 inch version but havent decided on how I want to go about it.

What’s the best price you all have scored a 16” 7.62x51 one?

Kinda hard to believe that Sig didn't spring for Lancer mags for the SPEAR.

Some wires got crossed between Grabagun and my FFL so my order was never processed. GAG was nice enough to cancel my order at my request without penalty. I figured I already had the 16", and that was enough for now. So there should be one coming back on the shelf.

16" in stock at Hinterland for $5.5K.

Herrera brings up a serious issue I hadn't heard of before: over-insertion of a magazine (Pmag in this case) can block the bolt and requires one to pull the magazine to seat in the catch before feeding. Discussion of this starts at 21:04.

It’s to help support the handguard and keep it from flexing/shifting as though it’s made of rubber. |

Anyone experience that barrel flex yet? Mine is still on order allegedly arriving sometime in June, but that flex is concerning for the cost of this rifle it shouldn’t be happening. Now surely sig will shortly come out with a Gen 2 and this one won’t be worth anything.

That’s good to hear, I thought Lancers were supposed to be the go-to for these rifles but I see they ship with PMAGs

I got mine of Gunbroker for 4600 ish, before taxes and fees. When it arrived I noticed the rail flex issue. Tightened a screw, issue solved. As for the magazine over-insertion issue, I had it with the PMAG that came from SIG with the rifle. When I looked at the magazine where the catch slots in is a shelf, and that shelf had a sizeable chunk missing. All my other mags worked just fine, and even with the janky mag I had to hit that thing HARD to get it to overrun the stop; hard enough to hurt my hand doing it, and I couldn't get it to every time.
All that is to say...anyone know what the purpose of the black plastic bullet-looking thing on the left side of the handguard is? |
|

I have the 11.5" Spear LT 556 with a ZRC clamp. I have barrel/rail deflection.
Likewise, I can move the barrel just like in all the videos and it stays. I can see the gap in the rail moving/canting against the upper receiver. I know my rails moving, however with the ZRC being installed, I'm assuming some of this IS also the barrel and not just the rail. Not only that, I also have a SIG MCX Spear 16" 308 sitting at my LGS to be picked up. I'm not sure what to do at this point. If I felt as though SIG would address this issue, I'd still like to pick up the 308... |
|

It would be nice if Sig addressed the issues no way in hell the military will accept anything like this.
@Coregon is sig looking for a fix? |
