A flared magwell is a must and it is the biggest "issue" I have with the original design ... I actually quite like the OEM safety and bolt release design ... I've got used to it ... but the tiny mag funnel has got to GO!

An Honest Review of The Springfield Armory VHS Hellion - We Should have Gone with Betamax I really hate the trigger..Its not what the youtubers said it showed it would be.. These guys show why I might actually hate it.. |

These guys show why I might actually hate it.. View Quote That video was poorly executed. Clearly, they receive their popularity from being overly dramatic and critical. I just shot mine yesterday, and yet again, it shot under 1 MOA. With a trigger upgrade, I don't know if it would be any more accurate, but I could certainly shoot it faster. With that said, the trigger isn't good, and an upgrade would be a welcome addition. I have lots of complaints and quibbles about the VHS-2, but overall it is a very well made rifle. I'm an avid AR guy, but this rifle is certainly staying in my armory. It's the best bullpup that I've encountered, and with a few slight changes, it could be next to perfect. |

View Quote That review is absolute cringe worthy ... just saying ... that is the pure example of people being resistant to change and going OVER THE TOP with negativity to get clickbait ... There are some things with the Hellion ... sure ... but nearly ALL of it is mitigated by actually using it ... the trigger in that video is WAY overblown ... WAY ... there are a lot of worst triggers in the world ... like a FS2000, G36, UMP, MP5 etc etc ... |

I guess I could get a 16" FDE, 18" gray, and 20" ODG. ETA - I love the AUG and Tavor but I didn't feel compelled to get all the colors as they came available. ODG was good, bam, done. The VHS is just very different to me for some reason. |

As much as I like the idea of buying another one in green so that I can get the updated safety, I'm not going to sell my rifle just to do that. I'll stick with what I have.
Cool that they are adding these options though. |

Anyone know why the VHS2 has the nitride bbl instead of the mil bbl? If the X95 can have the mil CHF/CL bbl, why not the VHS2?

Three choices.
Jesus was a liar who wanted to deceive everyone. Jesus was insane and THOUGHT he was the son of God. Jesus was who He said He was. No other option. It's simple to me. |

✔️ Civilian VHS-2
✔️ 20" barrel ✔️ Bayonet lug ✔️ Bayonet ✔️ FDE and ODG ⭕ Military grip ⭕ G36 magwell ⭕ Factory optic It's getting more and more irresistible. As much as I want the craptastic factory optic, I'm probably gonna cave when the 20" comes out in green or tan. |

This is what you get inside: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53336690463_2a79f4c965_c.jpg I have a downloaded version of the factory manual so I looked at the parts diagram on page 37 to see what I needed to do. You are looking at parts 128 (pin), 168 (bolt release) and 169 (spring). Using a 3/32" pin punch I knocked out the pin with a brad hammer. By pushing it completely out I was able to use the punch to keep things in place and control it. Once at that point you push the release towards the rear (compressing the spring). I then removed the punch and pulled up on the front of the release to remove it from the lower. The spring isn't very strong so I don't think there's much chance of launching things across the room. Here is what the two pieces look like together: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53335583007_815d0a1011_c.jpg The new part looks good. The factory release has striations for grip, the LunarTech has a pebbled finish for that. Swap the spring over to the new part and put things back together. I was able to push the pin back in place using the punch for most of its length, then tapped it in the rest of the way with the hammer. All told it took about five minutes to swap. Easy-peasy.
