I think it was Nick Saban who said, when asked about running up the score on an opponent, “my job is to score, there job is stop me”*.

Why FIFA blocks USMNT from playing for Olympic spot

TL;DR it’s all politics and not wanting the Olympics to overshadow the World Cup

Haaland's people in Spain talking to Barça and Real.

I definitely don't want him at City but it would be super annoying if he went to Barça

I don't think Barcelona has the money but it would be even worse for him to go to Real Madrid - though very typical of Florentino Perez who always has to have the shiniest toys.

Although Lovren admitted to intentionally throwing a bow at Ramos (Fuck be upon him). I almost bought a shirt to celebrate.

The Tuchel Train was bound to come to a screeching halt at some point. Let’s hope they got it out of their systems, big game against Porto Wednesday.

Silver lining, CP10 got on the scoresheet

This game is frustrating so far. Arsenal is keeping Liverpool's chances small.

This year's shirt was a break in tradition. I've been picking based on who had an influential part of the previous season.

This year I picked based in who I think has helped to keep this from becoming a lost season. It's going to be tough but it's not over.

Needed a W got a W

Greenwood is starting to click, good timing. Martial got knee tweaked with France and might be out the rest of the season, and Rash got pulled early after a tough tackle. This kid gets the shit beat out of him and he keeps plugging it in.

Neanderthal defense players can’t deal with his speed so they hack him.

He’s basically been injured for the last two seasons. I wish protection was a thing ala ice hockey.

When I turned in the TV and it was 0-1 I was excited. Went downhill quickly. Brighton's D just stopped defending smart and Man U saw it and made quick work of the openings.

And to his great credit his maturity means he just keeps plugging.

Unlike Neymar who yesterday probably cost his team first place plus however many games he will be suspended.
For any other player the first yellow card for retaliation would have been a red. Then he snaps again, gets a second yellow and is sent off. He's 29 now and it's clear he will never change

Late, but loved that Liverpool game.  Looking better.

I know we mostly talk EPL here, but holy crap Shalke this year has been the biggest dumpster fire I think I can remember seeing in a long, long time.  They’ve completely given up on themselves.

Yep. I used to try to catch their games for Weston McKennie and they were a young rebuilding team than needed some investment and leadership. Now they're just bad.

I was worried when Kabak was linked to the team but he's turned out well.

In other news. Champions League today! Although work does not believe  Champions League is a valid reason to let me chill in the break room for a few hours

Bayern had 31 shots, 12 on target. PSG had 6 attempts and scored 3 goals

2 big away goals for Chelsea, Mount and Chilwell both with beautiful goals. And once again, the Germans were nowhere to be found. Glad to see CP10 get some mins after the injury scare on Saturday.

The Juve-Napoli match for third place was a great watch, too. End to end. Dybala scored the winner within 5 minutes of coming on at 70' after being out for over 3 months. Chiesa was my man of the match.

As much as United drives me nuts at least for the most part they've been smart about contracts outside degea. Arsenal just keeps doing it over and over again signing or renewing older players with massive long term contracts.

Last week, Chelsea showed us how NOT to play a man down.

This week, Leeds gave a master class on how you play a man down, and doing it against City only makes it that much more impressive.

Leeds has been a great team to watch. All gas no brakes. No fear.

They showed up and punched Liverpool in the mouth on opening day and set the tone.
