Yup!  Looks farkin AWESOME!  I was leaning towards the Tac-14 with the wood furniture... but I saw Mossberg's Shokwave in wood behind the counter and fell in love!
The rear grip is both a little narrow and q bit slick... I see some skateboarding tape in its future.

Great idea!

I have been hosting 2-gun & 3-gun matched in the warmer months over the last few years. Mostly guys I work with.

I keep telling everyone that they will get a 5 sec. bonus if they show up in a costume, like Addidas track suit w/AK & Makarov, or WWII USGI, WWII partisan, the A-Team, etc.

70’s to 90’s themed sounds like a lot of fun. Count me in.

PLUS... I was talking to one of the counter guys at the LGS..... he was "Where on ARFcom are they talking about this?  It sounds cool!"

....so we might have yet another participant!

I think Moonclips should be allowed. I know plenty of older guys that carried slicked up M1917s and carried moon clips on their duty belts. Also speed loaders should be allowed.

Also I think there should be a BUG category. Period backups like Walther PP and PPK, Sig P230, and others in .32 and .380 Auto were popular. Hell, Kentucky State Police if I remember correctly issued a Walther to their officers as a BUG.

I'm imagining a course of fire is going to be determined by the range we have access to.  But do we have any preliminary ideas as to how we're going to set things up?  I've never done 3 gun.... just KD and pin shooting.

Why don't we have "uniformed"  and "detective" use the same sidearm type (revolver).... just one is used from Sam Browne gear while the other is used from an OWB style holster.  That frees up "under cover" to use a semi auto?

Oh, speedloaders should definitely be allowed.

“Detective” Division could be expanded to allow .32s and .380s, makes more sense that way anyway.

Maybe I'll go with "William Lozano". He's the officer that caused the 1989 Miami Riot by shooting fleeing suspect Clement Lloyd in the head as he was fleeing and evading police on a motorcycle on MLK Day.

Ofc. Lozano

FL NG during the 1980 McDuffie riot holding folks at gunpoint.

Ahhh who am I kidding. I'll just choose "Martin Castillo" from Miami Vice.

Okay, it’s time to start thinking about a catchy name for this game.

Shoot-X?  As in Generation X?

Interesting how this evolved into more of a cops and robbers sort of theme than a general period one.

Anyhow, does anyone recall these slings being around back in the day?  GRSC V-TAC Snap Sling made by Ed Verdugo.  Very little online about it, although I think I saw a comment on a forum that it inspired the Giles tactical sling that debuted in 1989.  My dad says he bought his in the early 1990s for about $20, but he's not absolutely certain.  The ones from the wayback mahine archived website are a bit different as sold from 1999-2001.  Any other period tactical slings out there?

I think Cops and Robbers because the majority of the gun play on TV was either cop shows or action flicks with cops like Lethal Weapon and Die Hard.

I'm all for it being more open. Throwing in bith real life like the  Contras, Rhodesia, South African Bush War in Angola and films or TV like Red Dawn, Commando, A-Team, etc....

What about broadening the scope if the classes a bit? You could have a cops & robbers class, a commando class, (insert others here), etc.

Awesome Action Shooting

Also I think we need have a stage where you need to escort coke in a Zero Halliburton Briefcase.

We need to commission a steel target in a donut shape to simulate a car tire.

Can't be retro-cop without shutting out a car tire, yo.

Add an A-team stage where if you actually hit any targets you fail the stage.

I’m all for letting the divisions get dictated by the folks that want to shoot them.

Get 10-12 people that wanna run zip guns and throwing stars, I say we find a way to make it work.

There's a lot of fodder to be had from conflicts and organized crime in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East for sure.

A commando class like mentioned or a merc class, on top of the cartel one, would be cool. Maybe an open class to represent the time period broadly (if you could get it during the time period in question, it can be used).

I'm curious about the bipod prohibition. A lot of combat rifles available back then to varying degrees came with assault bipods [among others, the HK-91, Port. AR-10, FAL, BM-59 and BM-69, etc., and more easily removable (including clamp-on) bipods for M1As/M-14s, ARs, and such].
