Its been awhile since I looked the stoner guns up, but if I recall the gun can be converted back and forth from a rifle to a belt and vice versa My god it just looks so damn good. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

I had a 180B and was never impressed. Sold it at a loss. My Daewoo K2 is everything a AR-180 wished it could be.

I had one of those with a folding stock back in the early '80's. To be honest I didn't shoot it much, and sold it off to fund other projects. I liked the folding stock, though. I don't even remember what magazines it took. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Nope. Had a Sterling for awhile and it was OK. I liked the folding stock, though. I don't even remember what magazines it took. I traded it off to a buddy who still owns it, and he’s modified a pile of USGI mags to fit the 180. It came with two 20rd Armalite mags when it was mine. He loves the rifle and won’t ever part with it, so I’m glad it found a home. |

Depends on the configuration and price. I think my 180B was $480 new. Wish I had kept it. With a chrome lined or nitride barrel, a metal lower, better optics mount and a side folder for under $1000, I’d consider it.
A near clone of the original with a couple mods to take AR-15 mags and fire control parts would be nice too. |

I'm in for at least a couple. I've always wanted to have the gun Robert Pacino used in Heat.

View Quote I treated it with "kid gloves"....last thing you wanted to do was bust the folding stock stud/catch, or (God forbid) break the bolt hold open..... Anyone who wants an authentic AR180 can already buy a real one .....they aren't exactly rare or expensive. I'd be in if they are priced like a stamped AK.....but not a dollar more..... |

A gun that was designed to be a cheaper to make and sell than a AR15 in a world of $500 AR’s. Not seeing it. They have always cost more than a AR and never really did anything better.

Every time I see one of these threads I get excited thinking that it’s an American 180, that would be cool.
The AR180, not so much. |

Depends on the price, but honestly, brownells pretty much sold me on the idea of just mating a modernized upper to an AR-15 lower. A classic replica with a price point that I consider acceptable though? Yeah I'd be on board, if only to act like the terminator alone at night in my boxers. I highly doubt the price will be reasonable though.

I pretty sure I remember the "Armalite"company name was bought by Eagle Arms many many years ago. The Armalite company today is NOT the same as the original. I believe they would need to start from scratch on the tooling. Someone correct me......... View Quote To believe Armalite of today is the same Armalite of 1954 is equally inaccurate as believing Colt's Manufacturing Company, LLC of today is the same Colt's Patent Fire Arms of 1855. Colt has been bought, sold, bankrupt, merged and spun off numerous times. They've made non gun products for other companies when times were tough. They made things except for when natural disasters and strikes shut down production. Today's Colt is not the same as the original Colt but they do have history and the blue dome of Hartford. In response to the OP question ~"are you a buyer" Yes to all three choices. The 180 is a good design. |

I have plenty of guns to kill shit. I'm not buying more with lazy engineering and AR buffer tube receptacles where they aren't needed or wanted. And neither is anyone else who doesn't already have a fighting rifle when they can get a PSA for $400. View Quote |

They need to do like Brownells did and make it compatible with ARs.

I'd only be interested if it was basically an AR-180 retro gun. Sheet metal. AR-18 mags. Even then, I dont think I'd want one, it will likely cost as much as a real Howa or Armalite/Sterling. If they put it on an AR15 lower they would be competing with Brownells and a whole bunch of better piston ARs out there.

|
I would want an original stamped steel folder but AR mag compatible.
I had a sterling and it was a cool gun aside from the mag PITA. I still have one or two mags that I dremeled to fit somewhere. |
|
It was designed as a cheaper alternative to the AR. If it can do that again Im in. Im not paying a premium for a sheet metal AR . Its a cool gun but not a premium rifle

Hard pass here.
Had a Costa Mesa mid 90's. Great shooting rifle but the stock joint was a weak point. Compare it to an M76 Valmet Tube folder i had same time. Bank vault vs screen door. AR15 all the things these days. Attached File Attached File |

Depends on price and form factor. Possibly yes. Needs to use AR magazines and have a folding stock similar to the original for me to be interested. View Quote |

I recall that they tend to crack around the pins. If that area was not beefed up, I would have zero interest.
Depending on the price, I may still have zero interest. |

Kinda sorta would be interested? Depends on what they did with it.
Many moons ago we use to argue about an AR-180C and what it should be. I didn't want a hard-charging door-kicker rifle, I wanted a lightweight scout/pathfinder design. My flavor: - 18" and 16" variants (my pref is 18) - 1:8 twist - chrome-lined bore/chamber (the B was all-steel) - threaded 1/2x28 (remember this is in the context of the post-AWB sunset era) - new lower that worked with AR15/M16 mags, FCGs, and grips (don't reinvent the wheel here!) - folding stock that improved on the original, don't put an AR buffer tube on it - keep it lightweight - modular handguards that could be kept simple or tacti-lol'ed up - 1913 rail on top of receiver for optics Here in 2019, I'd say most of that is still pretty accurate. Handguards could be something like slick polymer ones in the image of the originals, upgradeable to aluminum M-LOK ones. I might also clarify the folding stock as "put a 1913 stock rail on the lower" since that's probably one of the smartest approaches I've seen in the last 10 years. It'd probably look like that vaporware Skeli X11 carbine but with a better stock. I can almost guarantee it'll be some abomination that'll get the "But why?" meme glued to it though. |
|
I might be interested if it's more modern-looking with a folding stock and Mlok. But then again the Brownells version looks okay as well, but from what I hear those have issues. So I will wait for all the bugs to be worked out and make up my mind then.

I would take a more modernized 180 with a chrome lined barrel and beefed up folding stock hinge. The gas block would need to be pinned also. The Armalite 180B was a rancid POS.
|
|
I just want an AR-10A2 mid length carbine that takes SR-25 type mags and a M-15A2 carbine.
