Denzel is an Ok actor, but he's almost the same guy in every roll.

i love idris elba, so he's up there.

but i'd have to pick Marshala Ali, right now. he actually acts, has range, and portrays an array of characters.

My .02 and I haven't seen all the movies, but I've seen more range and convincing acting from Foxx than all the others.

Most of the others, whether I like them or not, always seem to play similar roles.

The one they just dual released on HBO max was pretty bad.

I have nothing wrong with slow movies that focus on plot or character development, but that movie had a ton of unnecessary filler that did nothing for the film. Seems like they could have cut out about 30 minutes and had the same film.

The problem with Morgan Freeman is that he basically plays Morgan Freeman in every role I can recall, be it a detective, a prisoner, POTUS, or God himself, the same look and tone.

It’s very soothing and dignified, but not much else.

He's not a great actor, but he's awesome and everything I've seen him in is great.

Denzel, Idris, and Morgan Freeman though are my favorites probably.

I don't have a candidate but most of the actors listed here have some great characters but the actors themselves have no depth.

Denzel
Morgan Freeman
Tom Hanks

They basically play themselves in every movie.
