You guys are getting way ahead of yourselves. Charged is one thing, convicted is something entirely different. I have no doubt this is nothing but a show and I'd be highly surprised is he's convicted of anything. There's no way this administration is going to let anyone prove that they were wrong about something.

Anything less than a DD, all pay and allowances, and some hard time will be a sham. We all knew that even if they did convene a Court Martial there would be no death penalty. They will have to convene a General Court Martial since Article 85 is a capitol offense. With any luck his stupid lawyer will think that he'll get a better shake with some Enlisted on the board. One can hope.
The lack of any comment or acknowledgement of this from the white house or the media will be deafening. Obama will never be asked question one about this. Court Martial will end and Obama will very quietly issue him a pardon a few months later. Certainly before he leaves office. |

I hope his trial and death sentence are as quick as Major Hasan's was. Oh, wait a second............
In other words, don't hold your breath. |

Six good reasons Bergdahl should hang. they matter not to this administration..........you're talking about an administration that has been firing blooded officers in the field in front of their troops, firing blooded servicemen in the field in front of their compatriots, and calls victims of a terrorist traitor on a military base victims of work place violence. Hell, our administration figures that they are suckers and probably deserve their fate for enlisting. |

So now all of us who knew he was a traitor and deserter will be proven correct. Oh and lets not forget the fact that we traded him for 5 terrorist leaders who have no doubt be the masterminds behind hundreds of deaths since they were released.
I bet if and thats a big if a republican gets elected to the White House he wont be able to tear the tag off a mattress without the democrats in congress threatening to impeach him. |

When I was stationed on Camp Lejeune in the late 70's/early 80's we had a deserter/collaborator living on base. Robert Garwood, who supposedly fought with the VC against American troops.
"The court-martial sentenced Garwood to reduction to private, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and a dishonorable discharge. He was not sentenced to confinement." here |

Early whisperings are he will likely get an other than honorable discharge and his sentence will be time served for the time he spent with his captors. Didn't president Ford pardon or grant clemency to thousands of draft dodgers and hundreds of deserters?

President Carter pardoned all the Vietnam draft dodgers who fled the USA to Canada. On this day in 1977, President Jimmy Carter, in his first day in office, fulfilled a campaign promise by granting unconditional pardons to hundreds of thousands of men who had evaded the draft during the Vietnam War by fleeing the country or by failing to register. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0108/7974.html |
