"Arthur Christmas" is actually pretty good.  Bill Nighy as Grandpa Santa is hilarious.

and for those of your with Bavarian and/or Austrian heritage, grab "Krampus" on Blu-ray over at Bezos-mart for $6.  It's supposed to be great (as far as a Christmas horror movie goes).

I forgot about Krampus.  Tried to watch it last year when I was on a kick with Rare Exports, but the usual suspects weren't streamin it.  I see Amazon is streaming Krampus 2 though.

One I found on Netflix while searching for Krampus was A Christmas Horror Story.  Has William Shatner.  No, he isn't Krampus.  I'd watch that again.

Have to figure out how to see Krampus.  I don't do DVD anymore.  Gave them all away and got rid of the players.  He did have a prominent role in Christmas folk lore when I lived in Bavaria.

I like Bill Nighy too, might have to check that out.

ETA:  OH!! I just saw on Amazon that Krampus is available to stream with an HBO subscription and you can do a 7 day free trial of HBO!  Sweet.

The wife and I got in the habit years ago of watching "Battleground" with  Van Johnson, John Hodiak, Ricardo Montalban, and George Murphy from 1949.

Not a classic Christmas movie, but it's about the 101st in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge at ... Christmas.  Good movie.

We just bought this movie for my daughter. She didn't last one minute with it. When my wife bought it she asked if I liked it and I told her no so of course my daughter wasn't going to like it either.

I loved "Christmas Story".

Brings back memories as I remember Higbee's department store in downtown Cleveland, OH.

I was stationed in Cleveland in the mid 80's, and I remember that 12 floor store very well.  If I remember right - 6 sales floors.  It is exactly the way it was portrayed in the movie, including the wooden escalator.

We lived on Rowley Ave, which was about a block away from Ralphie's house.  Nice neighborhood then.  Don't know about now though.

My wife always pulled out an old VHS tape of White Christmas and played it while she was decorating the house.  I got it for her on Blu Ray as soon as it was released and gave it to her as an early present.  She was amazed at how great it looked.  She figured a movie that old would just be grainy no matter what.
