Mostly turning mine in because I want something new. If they actually fix the zero/nitrogen/etc issues, the next gen EOTechs should be damn fine products. Who knows, maybe they'll even improve battery life.

Kind of have to agree with this...All this panic kind of had me freaking out about my XPS2-0 (still am a bit). Went back and looked through threads from 2010-2014 to see if i missed something when searching for the best optic for my particular needs and saw a lot of love for EO and how aimpoint and EOs were "personal preference ". I do not agree with how they conducted business and bad business practice is sometimes alone a good enough reason to jump ship. However I dont agree that EOs are now NCstars or whatever other $30.00 optic you want to compare it to.  I have nothing against  other optic manufacturers just prefer the lense and reticle of the EO. Kinda sucks a company would do this and bums me out as a consumer. Im going to keep an eye on the thread, im 50/50 on turning mine in. Problem is there isn't much else on the front I like...

Does anyone know if they have said anything about fixing the issue? I'd be more interested in getting it to work right than a refund for something I want, as long as it works.

I've been trying to read around the internet all night and can't find the answer. Most people only talk about the issue, or how to get a refund.

I purchased a G33 magnifier last year.  I heard that they aren't offering a refund for them.  Will it work with an Aimpoint or do I just have a paperweight now?

the magnifier should be fine since its not a holographic weapon sight. it's just a tube with a magnifying lens.

Damn I don't see how they are going to stay in business giving out all these refunds.  I also doubt anyone is going to plunk down big bucks if they design and release a fixed version.

Best I could see is selling their patents for the general form/shape/reticle design to another company and then shutting down the eotech division entirely.

I was thinking the same thing. They either need to fix the issue or shut the doors. Didn't realize their patents were coming up soon though. Maybe they won't be fixing it

I'd love to simply have a revised and reissued model that met the original specs.  I don't see where the issues have been addressed.  I too have liked mine for years.  But I no longer trust them.

When the dust settles...

I'll bet they never get a MEANINGFUL fix...

Due to the preciseness of the system.

Agreed. I knew the battery life was sub par to an aimpoint, but the reticle was much better. Well, it would be if it didn't wander all over the place

I'm late to this, but is there a site that shows what the delamination looks like?

Or where you can run the serial number?

I've got a 552 that's probably 8 years old.

Thanks for the vid.

Looks like mine has delaminated on the left side.

Reticle looks a lot blurrier than I remember.

We'll the refund part sucks also, because as soon as I read this shit a couple of weeks ago I dumped my EXPS 3-0 in FDE for $480 after I had paid $639 plus tax only about 18 months earlier. So I lost at least $180 bucks on that shit.

Ahh I guess I made up for the loss with the purchase of the aimpoint h-1 deal PSA had a week later for $408 shipped when I about bought one a couple of weeks ago for over $500.

I just submitted mine.  I've had my 552 since 2006.  I'm pretty disappointed that there is an inherent design flaw.

Mines painted to match my AR pistol.  It also has the GG&G lense caps that I paid $40.

I don't trust it any more after reading about these flaws.   I have no idea what I paid for it from AIM.

This sucks.

I honestly felt this way myself, until I read people having issues in 32* temps. That's unacceptable. And if I'm paying $600+ for an optic, it better not have one single mechanical issue.

I still like mine, too.  However, the issue now is that I don't trust my EOTechs to be accurate under circumstances that I could reasonable need them to be accurate.

Therefore, I've requested two RMA's for mine.  The newer, I've only sighted the rifle in with it, maybe 30 rounds total shot with it.

I guess that's what gets me, I shoot often in sub-freezing temps here in Alaska and have yet to experience anything like this, from mine or anybody I know. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it's as though everybody on ARFCOM has broken Eotechs now.

That was my first thought, but it looks like every sight will be effected at some point, and that's a pretty serious concern, unless you plan on zeroing your rife everyday and don't go anywhere where the temps fluctuate

Can someone PM me the link? I've got one that has dead Nitro that I had thought about sending for warranty work.

If I can get a refund for the whole thing, it's leaving.

From my post earlier today..

Instructions to those who are having difficulty figuring out how to start the return process.

Go to eotech's main website and up at the top is the Service & Support tab right near the social media links. Click on that and you'll see an option for Return Authorization Request Form. Click on that.
Once the form is open, fill it in with your information and what it is requesting. The build date is on a sticker on the bottom of the sight and the serial number should be near by. If it's a newer sight it should be on the UID sticker. In the Description of Failure box, put a brief sentence that would like a product refund and also the price you paid for your particular item. They don't need a long winded response on how you are upset.
In the Comments box below that I basically reiterated what I typed again and then submit it. You can print out the form but you won't need it. You'll just need the approval email from Mike Kroll and include that in the package. Be patient. I really think it's a one man show. He's responding to each request and it may take time now. As of now no proof of purchase is required.

HTH anyone trying to figure it out.

There was a guy I worked with years ago who had a pair of hiking boots, wore them until they had holes in them, then took them back to REI back when they had a no-questions-asked return policy. Got a full refund, and bought some new boots. At a certain point, you have to admit you got your money's worth and are just gaming the system.

I like my xps 2.0 as well.  I'd be perfectly happy if they had a fix for it rather than a refund, but I'm guessing that since its been a known problem this long and its not fixed, they can't fix it.

I'm torn, I really like it, but who wants to keep so keep something with a known major defect?

A smart person would look for used EOs at used prices and send them in for full refunds. There is probably people out there that haven't heard of this yet.

But back on topic.
Reading the op it sounds like L3 is a shady scamming company. I wouldn't trust shit they made.

Their best option is to sell out to aimpoint, let them try to work out the bugs.

Btw, business must have been good to just turn tits up and offer refunds without a lawsuit running it's course yet.

How can I possibly trust it to do that job now?  Absolutely not.

Does anyone know if they have said anything about fixing the issue? I'd be more interested in getting it to work right than a refund for something I want, as long as it works.

I've been trying to read around the internet all night and can't find the answer. Most people only talk about the issue, or how to get a refund.

Since that doc was released...

All my Eotechs have failed...

Suddenly ---after all these years of great performance...

I'm skeered...

Mostly turning mine in because I want something new. If they actually fix the zero/nitrogen/etc issues, the next gen EOTechs should be damn fine products. Who knows, maybe they'll even improve battery life.

According to the filing they weren't able to find a fix for any of the issues over the course of the better part of a decade.  If they couldn't fix it then, my money is on them not being able to fix it now.

Decided to keep mine too. I know what they did is fucked, but I like the damn thing so I'm keeping it. Its worked fine for almost 3 years and doesn't show any of the signs of failure I'm reading about here. I don't blame anyone else for sending theirs back, but I am selfishly holding on to mine whether they are assholes or not.

I like my xps 2.0 as well.  I'd be perfectly happy if they had a fix for it rather than a refund, but I'm guessing that since its been a known problem this long and its not fixed, they can't fix it.

Like I said, I don't blame anyone for sending them in. I've trusted mine, and still do. It's been thrown in snow, shot in HEAVY rain, dropped, kicked, and thrown (long story ), and it's held up fine. Some people got lemons, but it seems like some of us got lucky.

Is the 512 also part of this? I purchased one last year for my patrol rifle. It's been working fine but I use it in my LE duties and I need it to last. If it's on the list I will RMA it for my $$$ back and get a Aimpoint Pro.

Did you even read the entire court filing?

This is not an issue of "some people getting lemons."  Nearly every single HWS that Eotech as well as other outside agencies tested exhibited all of these defects.  Nearly every single one.  You may think you've gotten lucky, but from Eotech's own internal e-mails and reports, they admit that the sight they sold you has almost a 100% chance of being defective in some pretty serious ways.

If that doesn't shake your confidence, I don't know what would.

In any case, it's your money, do what you want, but when the manufacturer of your optic has been saying internally (for years) and now publicly that the sight they sold you is defective, I don't know why you'd think anything to the contrary.

Yes.  There is no list of specific models, it is EVERY model.  The very design of the Eotech HWS is apparently defective.

I don't own any EOTech sights anymore. I sold them one by one before all of the shit hit the fan. Aimpoints, Trijicons, etc., seemed to be a better value to me.

I'll be looking forward to cheap refurbs if EOTech decides to go that route.

When the -30 degree apocalyptic nuclear winter occurs, I will curse my lack of foresight, resorting to duct taping hand warmers to the optic.

If I was going for a refund I wouldn't dawdle.  Wouldn't be surprised to see them close their doors.
