Sad story for the kids. Two druggies dead, I can't find the fucks to give... Except for the kids and the mess their irresponsible parents left behind. We have a pain clinic in our hospital. If 5 of us arfcommers were sitting around a table, and split the single doses of about 25% of the patients, we would all die. Opiate users build a tolerance pretty quickly, and if you keep ramping up their intake, the tolerance grows. Most people can't take fentanyl if they are not opiate tolerant. The fentanyl deaths come from casual users of opiates who get their hands on real patches or doctored ones, powder or pills. Hey baby, I got these pills that look like Vicodin, but are a little stronger, wanna give em a go? Then they take fentanyl pills and their kids find them the next day. Kinda like when a new batch of heroin hits the streets and it is way more pure than what people are used to. They bang their normal load and keel over dead. View Quote |

Going by context, I'm going to guess they were referring to the children coming from previous marriages/relationships. One of the children referred to the pilot as "step-dad" and the sentence in the article about them being a "blended family" referred to children being from previous marriages. Y'all keep being outraged if you want, though. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

When it's administered by professionals using pharmaceutical-grade products, it's quite safe. I've had fentanyl twice that I know of when I had surgery; it's an awesome drug. When it's self-administered by non-medical professionals using street-grade crap that could be cut with anything, then it can be quite deadly. View Quote |

Yep, sucks for the kids to find parents like that, but I still do not understand the hole pilot angle of the thread title.
So he was a pill head who died and he was a pilot. |

Likely he probably got prescribed opiates for an injury or surgery then got hooked.
Since the crack down on prescribing pills and pain clinics the addicts have moved to dangerous street heroin for their fix, hence all the deaths I'm guessing his supply ran out and he resorted to buying street heroin for the first time for his fix. Maybe the idiot convinced his wife to try it or something. And obviously it was cut with fentanyl and he couldn't handle it. Sad situation. Feel bad for the kids. |

Poor kids, at least the folks learned to fly with Spirit

Meh the world is rid of couple dopers. One of which flew airliners . I do have sympathy for the children though.

Dumb ass parents. Horrible age for those kids to go through something like this.

Even the patches are very dangerous.
When Mom was in end stage cancer we were directed by the Doc to wear gloves while changing out her fentanyl patches even tho they were supposedly used up. |

That stuff is like playing Russian roulette. Fentanyl is bad, M'Kay?

I know it's everywhere, but that is a pretty yuppy area. My sister lives right around the corner.
The comments on the news story on Facebook have been interesting. One of their friends was livid, saying it couldn't have any thing to do with drugs.... Then the story updated and that person disappeared. |

It actually hits a lot of upper and middle class people. Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Bob Beckel are perfect examples.

Even when prescribed by a doctor, the drug can be abused. Compared with other opioids, fentanyl is more likely to cause sleep apnea. A relative of mine had bad apnea while on it, and once they changed to a different drug of similar strength, the apnea went away.
I do not know if apnea like that can cause a permanent Cessation of breathing...IE death. |

Not bullshit. Several times within the past few years I've been given news that people I knew growing up fatally od'd on heroin/opiates. These were suburban kids from normal upper/middle-class families. That shit is everywhere now. View Quote |

What a shame for those kids.
Hope they have some relatives to take them in. A pox upon parents who "bond over pharmaceuticals" |

In this thread a bunch of people who know fuck all about pharmacology will show their asses and beg big gubmint to ban a drug.

Fentayl is bad enough but some of the synthetic fentanyl coming out of China is 30x more powerful. One dumbass playing around is all it takes to end up on a slab, or one kid accidentally exposed to their parents bull shit.

To save the google search: Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid analgesic that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent. It is a schedule II prescription drug, and it is typically used to treat patients with severe pain or to manage pain after surgery. It is also sometimes used to treat patients with chronic pain who are physically tolerant to other opioids. In its prescription form, fentanyl is known by such names as Actiq®, Duragesic®, and Sublimaze®.Street names for fentanyl or for fentanyl-laced heroin include Apache, China Girl, China White, Dance Fever, Friend, Goodfella, Jackpot, Murder 8, TNT, and Tango and Cash. I'm amazed the stuff is still legal. It's extremely powerful, sneaks up on users, mistakes get made. There's someone at the local hospital trying to rehab with bone cancer from it. Given bad directions from the doctor with a mistake; you're dead. Used for what it is intended it is a good thing...used for recreation it is an extremely bad thing. 100% of the Fentanyl that is responsible for fatal overdoses is from Mexico, manufactured in illicit drug labs or illegally imported from China. If someone is under the impression that doctors are prescribing Fentanyl powder that people are injecting and overdosing on then they are fucked in the head. Injectable solutions of Fentanyl in the hospital are extremely regulated and don't leave the hospital. Fentanyl patches cannot have their Fentanyl removed for injection. Fucking drooling retards are now going to start blaming doctors for Fentanyl overdoses. Idiots. I talked to a nurse tonight who suffered a subarachnoid mesencephalic bleed a couple of months back. She was on Fentanyl IV for 2 weeks for severe headaches while in the hospital. She was then switched to Oxycodone for another week and then discharged on that. She tapered herself off over a week. She is not an addict looking for more Fentanyl. She's back to working full-time as a nurse. People who abuse opiates choose to do so. |
