Those guys are nuts.

I heard Jeff Piotrowski earlier on his stream say "There's a mobile home community over that way a half-mile, we better move to avoid any debris."

Meanwhile, these guys are like "Hey a mobile home community, let's go park in there to get some awesome footage of flying stuff."

Payers for everyone, including myself! Here in North Naples, power kept going off and coming back on within 10 seconds. At 12:30 it finally went off and hasn’t come back.

Probably a dumb question, but when does the power company start trying to get power back on? I assume not until the storm has passed, but is there a wind speed threshold or something they use to determine when to start working on getting power back on?

A rosery won't help them now.
Sanibel is taking a direct hit from a CAT 4 verging on CAT 5. That's, more than likely, not survivable.

Just incredibly sad and heart wrenching.
Thinking about what going on inside them as I type this... chills me.

lol. No Shit. "They are all going to die! Chance of survival virtually nil!"

I'm going off memory but I'm almost positive 30mph is the rating for the buckets on the big trucks.  It might be 20 or 25mph

They won't roll in until the storm is over and surge has ran back into the sea.  The first bit is trying to even get to the places they need to do the work.  This isn't an it'll be on in 3 hours kind of storm.  You're talking thousands of destroyed transmission poles, transformers, lines, etc.  Outage map now has 483k customers without power and that's gonna increase rapidly.

Actually, a ton of flood claims would be a good thing for insurance companies as the National Flood Insurance Program is underwritten by the federal government.

The storm surge projections are now from ground (not water), so if they say we're getting 8' of storm surge that's meaningful.  My ground level floor is ground level.  The house has a series of stairs that basically make it a 3 story split-level.  This is the view from our entry door at ground level:

https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/4267/65522.JPG

Our inlaw suite and my office are about 4' above ground.  The main floor is probably 9' and the top story of course is around 18'.  I'm guessing the ground level is underwater and perhaps the lower living area.  That's significant.

Pretty shitty here in Fort Myers. Luckily my home is positioned where the surrounding homes take the brunt of it. Satellite dish came crashing down. A few of the neighbors fences. A little nerve racking but nothing even remotely close to what I experience on St. Thomas when we got absolutely crushed by Irma.

Or they pay everyone and then go bankrupt. It's not like they don't collect shitloads in payments, most people never even use their insurance yet they are required by law to have it. They have so much money, there are "offices" with Olympic size pools and putt putt golf courses. Their CEOs spend millions to renovate their offices. Insurance is a scam. It's good idea but bad execution
