This thread must be tho most active on ARF besides the 24/365 nonsense. I can't keep up! I figured out how to know who gets the throne in the end. Eat GOT Oreos at random. The last cookie left in the pack is the sigil of the winner. View Quote |

Just how dumb are these motherfuckers that they go 6-8,000 years with little to no increase in technology, and arguably a loss? All that inbreeding ain't just for royals I guess. View Quote I suspect the proximity of the 'red star' implies there is a cycle to these things. They may not have even been awake for longer than the story we are being told...say the last 100 years or so. Not to REEEEEE the fantasy crowd too much but I suspect the orbit of GoT planet is 'most irregular' and this plays into the story more than the TV show is gong to allow as GRRM is pretty long-winded about such things. At least compared to other dragon/cycle/comet writers like...oh...McCaffrey. We may never know as GRRM certainly doesn't seem interested in telling us those details before he dies, but I doubt his intention was what we will get. I once tried to read Tolkiens margin notes and if folks are right and GRRM is as good as the bard then we are being robbed of a lot of detail. I don't blame GRRM, if Tolkien had had a TV show running the Silmarillion while he was trying to sort of maybe finish it then he might have...yeah, no, yeah....he'd never have let that happen. F D&D F GRRM You've promised us much and are going to drop the ball on the 1 yard line I just know it. |

I guess episode 3 is the start of the longer episodes and supposedly its the battle for Winterfell for the whole episode. This should be epic, I would think it would be the episode that will determine the rest of the season since all the important people are there.

I can't see that. You've got a guy, NK, who has done nothing but badass wolf-stare and kill shit all series. To see him turn tail and retreat would be out of character. Then again, I suppose we really don't know anything about him. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Quoted: Sam didn’t read about it in a book so presumably there’s no written history of it. There was already an ideal scene during one of Bran’s flashbacks to kinda give some insight on who he was. We don’t know what the Night King wants. When Bran was with the children of the forest in the tree with the three-eyes raven it would have been a great time to explain his actions but they didn’t. I’m curious if they try to explain any of it in the show. Bran would presumably be the only who would be able to see what he wants. Unless of course, the night king sends a raven to winterfell with a list of demands. View Quote |

Quoted: There is a theory(probably BS) that the Night King is actually Bran through some kind of timeline crap like went on with Hodor. Sounds a bit thin to me. View Quote Season 1 - Rob Stark said :“One time she told me the sky is blue because we live inside the eye of a blue-eyed giant named Macumber,” he said. “Maybe we do,” replied a sullen Bran. Season 4 - Oberyn Martell brought up the same idea to Tywin Lannister. “Some believe the king choked,” Tywin said, talking about Joffrey’s recent death. “Some believe the sky is blue because we live inside the eye of a blue-eyed giant,” Oberyn replied. It should be noted that this not mentioned in the books. |

Spoiler theory I've compiled based on some things I've read on other sites.
Click To View Spoiler Battle of Winterfell is a distraction. The NK sends his army there while he and the dragon move to KL. NK knows that 2v1 dragons in Winterfell means he almost assuredly loses his WMD so why not move down to KL where we know there are "a million people give or take". Bronn heading up from KL to Winterfell will see him and thats how Winterfell finds out. This alligns with Brans vision of a dragon flying over KL and DragonTits vision of a burnt throne room filled with snow or ash.
Jamie travels south and burns the city with the wild fire that's left over. "burn them all" |

I could see D&D giving us a look at a direwolf through Branvison but nothing of Ghost.

View Quote Speaking of that though: they probably spent more on that out of place Disney-esque dragon riding scene than they spent on direwolves in the past 3 seasons combined. |
