While I don't seek out these movies and I have made fun of them to my wife before it was cool to do so I do enjoy that there is no
virtue signalling or guilt of any kind. |

My Wife will soon drag out all those old, faded, plastic X-mas decorations from her childhood and start cluttering the house and lawn with them
Thankfully, a couple years ago, Deer stomped the plastic Santa Claus from 1969 on our front lawn into too many pieces to glue back together Damn "Deer" |

I have a friend who writes scripts for Hallmark movies. She makes bank, at least compared to what I feel her effort level is at this point. She writes a few a year and they pretty much support her and her husband in Brentwood at a very comfortable level.
She said they are very formulaic and that she tries to loosen them up but she gets a ton of notes back to fix them to conform to the pattern. “This is not a job that a Hallmark woman would have”, “this is not something a Hallmark woman would say”, etc. Somewhere on a dusty 2002 Dell desktop there is a Microsoft Word file detailing the exact boundaries of the dramatic tension allowed in a Hallmark movie. |

Plot is always the same...meet...get to know each other...misunderstanding about 3/4 way thru....get back together. View Quote The variations are girl moves to big city,.comes home for Christmas One spouse or the other gets so wrapped up in their work that the family is forgotten A sick child brings estranged parents back together and kid gets better through A miracle A child plots to bring his parents back together, goes hilariously/horribly wrong, but works anyway Adult child brings intended (whom the parents don't know about) home for Christmas, parents hate it, then grow find of intended Adult woman talks casual male friend into playing boyfriend when she goes home for Christmas, finds she really loves him I mean, you could fill a bingo card with these plot variations. |

They are positive. There's nothing wrong with positive, family oriented programming. View Quote She watches loads of old tv to avoid that crap. And Lacey is easy on the eyes. It does seem she's in almost every movie, but that's okay with me. When I wander through the living room I'd rather see her than some soy boy 'male' or the ever present super woman / cause of the moment bs on the networks. I get tired of the Christmas movies, but we have two tvs so if I want to watch something else it's easily done. |

Career minded woman with career minded boyfriend. Career minded woman has to go to small town for business assignment. Career minded woman meets local Christmas tree farmer, rancher, singer, lonely widowed single dad with cute kid. Through a series of mishaps the career minded woman realizes she no longer loves the career minded boyfriend and falls in love with local Christmas tree farmer, rancher, singer, lonely widowed single dad with cute kid. With about 10 minutes to go in the movie, career minded boyfriend shows up and there is a dilemma. Career minded woman must choose, but the local Christmas tree farmer, rancher, singer, lonely widowed single dad with cute kid is hurt and rejects her. Career minded woman dumps career minded boyfriend, which he is oddly ok with and there is no fighting, yelling, drama, screaming, stalking, or restraining orders issued. Career minded woman and local Christmas tree farmer, rancher, singer, lonely widowed single dad with cute kid get back together and share first kiss of true love - the end. TLDR- Cheating girlfriend goes off for work, meets guy and dumps boyfriend for the guy she just met at Christmas. View Quote |

I don't know about that. A lot of them sound like they involve mentally-ill women who stalk guys, or try to trick them into falling for them. Or, they involve spouses / SOs who, instead of being truthful and breaking things off, start getting into a relationship behind the other's back. Not exactly what I call wholesome behavior. They are positive. There's nothing wrong with positive, family oriented programming. Hallmark movies aren’t my favorite thing to watch, but my wife likes them so that is good enough for me. I can watch a Hallmark movie with my wife and surf ARFcom while paying enough attention to understand what is going on. Or just find something else to do altogether. Sure, the plots may be predictably sappy but they aren’t that bad and I don’t have to suffer through some gay/tranny/feminist/toxic masculinity/minority empowerment/liberal/anti-white agenda. Frankly, I am surprised that the Hallmark channel has lasted as long as it has without being viciously attacked by SJWs as racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, white privilege, etc. I just wish we could get the Hallmark channels as a stand alone service. |

I really dislike them. Too predictable with the same plots, just variations. They are
make for chicks. Even the guys in them act a little wimpish. Wife, though loves them. |

Stupid plots, bad acting, weird lighting on the sets, ridiculous fantasy messages. They aren't wholesome or family oriented; they are devoid of sense.
|

I haven't seen a one, and inshallah, I never will. Is this something that just became a thing in the last year or so?
|

nah, I'm good dawg. I would have never married my wife if she was into shit like that.

The ex watched then incessantly.
I've got no problem with, quaint little family movies with minor plot changes. Great for families and a relief from CGI Corporate Swill you'll see anywhere else. |

View Quote I have yet to see anybody get railed in any of them. |

I don't get the hate for Hallmark Channel. I started watching it with my wife (sadly now ex-wife) because she didn't care for what I watched and I wanted to enjoy spending time with her. Now, I watch it because I enjoy the movies and the fact they're not infested with most of the SJW bullshit or leftist political crap that's on everything now. It allows me to sit back and relax, enjoying wholesome entertainment that gives me hope, despite the way the world is tody.

GD also bitches about monogamous heterosexuality, grass roots/individual capitalism, families made or made whole, tireless work, and the glorification of The American Way. And looking at hot women. Maybe a bit of introspection is in order. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Hallmark needs to make “Joker’s Christmas”, with Joaquin Phoenix making everyone laugh..........

If I started listening to Christmas music back in July, I'd be soundly ridiculed.
If I start listening to it now, people would merely laugh at me and shake their heads Where's all the tolerance for Christmas music? |
|
There is nothing inherently wrong with these movies beyond the utter stupidity of them and the fact that the Christmas season is now ridiculously long.
It used to be Christmas didnt really get rolling till November. Now its October BEFORE Halloween. They even had Christmas in July. They pounds these movies for 3 MONTHS and now ALL YEAR LONG. Give me a break. |
