Quoted: it ain't a good solid GD dating thread but she'll do, amirite? @RTX View Quote I don't normally rate threads, but a thread in which a guy spent his last 140 bucks buying drinks for himself and some thug he just met so that somebody had to buy groceries for him inspired me to rate this one as 'Troll.' |

Quoted: Are you really being defensive after coming in here hat in hand? Come on dude, either you want advice from men or you don't, and generally men tell it how it is. You know what needs to be done, get your shit together. You make 70k a year man, that's decent money, hell I wish I made that right now. You'll get things straightened out, and I truly hope you're able to stop drinking and have a great life. View Quote I'm a rebel at heart. Quoted: If that was me (and someone else had to buy my groceries for me) I'd be clinging to those $140 dollars like my life was dependent on it. Try and get some help man. These are poor decisions compounded on poor decisions View Quote Because your life does depend on that money. Homie had someone else buy him food after he drank away his last money. Op, I'm not trying to be an asshole here, but I'd be feeling pretty shitty right now if I were in your shoes. I've never done that to myself, but if I had I'd be making some real changes in my life. I hope you're able to see the problems you have and correct them. You've got a lot going for you, don't piss it away. |

OP don't give up and keep moving forward.
Sometimes people fall on hard times and for a bit just keeping your shit together and just surviving is moving forward though you may not feel that way. It will get better. |

Realistically, you probably need to sell your car and live with a beater for a few years. It will probably require a bit of work keeping it running, but most stuff can be fixed with a long weekend, a few hundred in parts and some youtube instructions.
Next up is the housing downgrade. Are you renting? If so it's time to review your lease restrictions and start shopping for cheaper options or room mates. Finally you need to consider increasing your income through overtime or a side job. How old are you? Guard or reserve duty can bring in some extra money and save a ton on your health insurance outflow. |

You drank $140 and now are complaining about not having money?

View Quote I'll tell you how it happens. Someone grows up and learns nothing about how financing works and how to manage their personal financial situation. You go to a dealer and find a vehicle you like that you decide you want that day. The dealer asks you what size payment you can afford each month. You stupidly answer that question and now he's got you on the hook. The salesman tells you you're getting a great deal at the best interest rate for your credit score. You trust the salesman for no good reason and he gets you to sign. If you want to see the sleaziest car salesmen, try shopping for a car near a major military base... |

Your life sucks because your behavior sucks because priorities suck. |

Quoted: I know, and I appreciate those who are giving the advice. That's the reason I created this post, for help. Not to "troll". View Quote 2) Close out all your debt starting with the highest interest rates first. 3) Find cheaper meals and scrounge for an while on entertainment / pleasure. Rewatch old DVDs. Play an old videogame. Used books are very inexpensive. Find cheaper meals to make that arent totally unhealthy. In America we have access to a lot of relatively inexpensive raw foods. In the end you will own less stuff living in debt since you are paying interest. It is a source of stress. That said it's a situation that is easily (though not instantaneously) fixable. It's not like you killed a man or did something permanent. Money isn't the end all to life, but you have to have your money affairs in order. Make a plan and in a few years be debt free. |
