If I bob the hammer on my .44 I’m pretty close to that Chopper concept. Pretty sure @03RN already told me to do it…lol.

I know @03RN has one, does anyone else have a revolver that roughly follows the Tiger McKee “Chopper” formula?

I feeling the urge and have a little disposable income at the moment, and I'm looking for a .38/44 Heavy Duty. It's one of the final few guns on my bucket list.

I've had mine since December '17 or '18.  While I've always been a S&W guy, my .44 Redhawk has impressed me with it's trigger pull and accuracy.
From a purely appearance viewpoint, I'll always  like the Smith Model 29 better.  But I think from a pure performance standpoint, the Redhawk has the M29 beat.
HSM 305 grain Bear Loads are certainly tolerable out of the Redhawk.  I'm not sure how many I'd want to put through a S&W Model 29.

Yes, they are.  They fit with just a little bit of seam gap on the front.  I will try them at the range tomorrow, but I think it works.  It's a good improvement on the factory grips because my fingers don't fit the grooves. I suppose if the gap bothers me I'll put a section of bicycle innertube on the grip to hold it down.

I have tried Houge and other Pachmayr styles and none of them worked.  The frame is a bit thick compared to the Colt short frame Detective, it seems.

Just picked these up at my LGS today.
S&W M10-7 38 nickel and a Colt Police Positive Special in .32 Colt New Police ctg. It dates to 1951 and looks barely used. Probably was someone’s nightstand gun for 60 years.

Before going on a trip to Wyoming and Montana last year, I cooked up some bear defense loads.  A medium-hot 300 grain Lasercast bullet, at around 1000 - 1100 fps, depending on the gun.  They were eminently reasonable out of my 5 1/2" Redhawk.  They were not a lot of fun out of my 629 Mountain Gun.  I chose to carry the Redhawk.  In a belt holster, there is a big difference in carry comfort, but not in the across the chest rig I bought for hiking, so I went with the Redhawk.  If I hung on to it, I could bang out six rounds pretty quickly in double action, and keep them all in 6" at "bear defense range."  No way could I do that with the 629.

The 629 Mountain Gun is perfect for .44 Special and light Magnum loads, but if you're going to push the .44 Magnum to it's potential, I agree... the Redhawk is better.  With that same 300 grain bullet, I've pushed it to 1400 fps out of the Redhawk.  I don't think I'd want to fire a lot of those though a 629.  The Redhawk frame is heavier, the cylinder walls are thicker and the cylinder latch cuts are slightly off center.  All of these things make it a better design for hot loads.

That LS belongs to my wife, so the grip stays.

I had the same thought a few years back and picked up a S&W 18-4 with a 4.0" barrel.  The sight radius of the 18 makes it easier for my old eyes to shoot any of my 4.0" S&W .357's more accurately.
