A guy that ran in the last election in my County had been busted before for impersonating a cop.  He lost in the primary but got more votes than he should.

A few years ago, the assistant chief of a Podunk got involved in a pursuit while in his personal vehicle. The assistant chief's and suspect vehicles collided several times, resulting in lots of damage to the chief's vehicle. He later asked the council to pay for the damage, which they refused, and rightfully so.

Ha! that was my favorite scene in the movie Bad Boys 2. The vehicle in question was a Porsche.

Considering Kentuckians can legally carry Death Stars I would think so.  If you have watched Star Wars, you know that a Death Star can destroy planets.

That would be the line of Sheriff(not constable) Roscoe P. Coltrane played by James Best.

Watched a James Best interview where he said he couldn't count all of the LE who came up to him and told him the Roscoe P. Coltrane character was the reason why they became LE because it looked like fun.

In Texas they're sworn LEO, which makes no sense to me.

I see them out on I-45 running traffic like a DPS trooper.

Most of them have giant mountain man beards and head to toe in mismatched 5.11 shit. It looks unprofessional as fuck and shouldn't be a thing IMO.

My Dad was a constable in rural Tennessee, I am pretty sure he was fired for taking it too seriously. He was Barney Fife as hell.

I still have the Colt Police Positive that he carried. I used to disarm him when he came to visit. I never met another person that knew so little about handguns that insisted on carrying one....complete with "Concealed Carry Permit" badge in a patent leather holder.

We don't have stupid shit like this. In FL, you basically have cops and auxiliary cops.

City cops, county sheriff deputies, state agents, state Troopers, etc all hold the same LE cert. Full-timers, part-timers, reservist, etc... Then you have 90 day academy wonders that are auxiliaries. They have arrest powers and carry a gun only when on-dutu and working with a full-time LEO.

We don't have townships, constable zones, etc.... we have city cops, county sheriff's offices, and state agencies. About the only specialized agencies that are odd is the railroad police. But they hold regular FL LE certs.

My county but not my constable

We've had some interesting ones.  Had one that weighed about 400 and wore overalls. Carried a snub nose 38 in his bib pocket state trooper had a laugh over that one night at a wreck. Good friend of mine was a constable in my area. He was 80+ when elected his only experience was a prison guard in the 70s. He was deaf and scared of his own shadow. Another friend lives in a little town right across the county line. He is a constable the fire chief and a paramedic so he has many hats. He is a decent guy and tries to do something.

I know of one who was driving around in his F150 pulling over speeders without radar. He was using his speedometer. If you were over posted as he came up behind you, he’d pull you over and write a ticket.

My son-in-law is a railroad cop. Full LE certification. Interesting LE niche job, like a one-man PD and he covers a wide area. No problems with backup from locals if needed.

I helped a friend "repo" his race car from a shop in IL, per a court order. Smaller town in the far-out Chicago burbs. Don't recall if it was the local PD or Sheriff's but the guys were quite helpful. The lead guy showed me his clipboard full of repo's, evictions, restraining orders, etc. and said, "this is today's work, same almost every day". Sounded like gravy work for his squad compared to regular police work.

Court records show the constable was arrested on charges of assault — domestic violence and unlawful imprisonment in the early hours of Jan. 1, after a woman called police to report that Ramey, her boyfriend, had handcuffed her and held her against her will.
