I personally wouldn’t want my phone subpoenad, let alone for using an APP that has not been upheld as a reliable source/case law.
DL image inquiry of given name, if not same person then hook them for obstructing identification. When booking/processing use fingerprint inquiry. Add charges/complaints accordingly. Add alias given to arrest and booking form/offense report. I’m a little surprised to hear issuing citations under alias name once true ID was confirmed also. That’s how innocent people with the same information given by the ID (or close enough) get warrants for failing to appear in court. Good work digging, but be mindful of the 4th amendment with using personally owned equipment/technology and taking of photos. |

I got lucky, a second officer showed up and knew me from my work at the time. I don't care if you feel my panties are bunched up... 15 years ago most of you would have bitch about active plate scanning... now you welcome it. Give it time... facial scanning of everyone around a car will become the norm in 5 to 10 years... public domain and all that shit. View Quote OMG, take away cops cell phones and access to information while in the field because you once got pulled over and had a irritating experience due to forgetting your wallet. Were you cuffed, tased, shot? Of course not, you had a irritating experience until things were straightened out, due to your mistake. Did they cite you? Because even if the 2nd cop verified who you were, the first cop could have cited you and made you appear in court to verify that you're a licensed driver or pay a fine. So you had a irritating experience due to a minor mistake on your part but the cop did you a solid and you're still pissed? Buddy, the cops ain't the problem here. So, in this day and age LE has portable hardware/software that can positively ID a bad guy within minutes, but when they stop and arrest an innocent person on an outstanding warrant because they had the same personal info as the wanted person, or victim of ID theft, that person can spend days in jail until the confusion is cleared up. How does that work? If the name, DOB, SSN, etc returns a hit on a wanted person, but the facial recognition software comes back with someone different, what do you do? View Quote |

Big Brother is here....
Tag scanners.... Look at the poles up and down the interstate - the ones with the little flat RFID readers. What kind of info do you think they are collecting....cameras are everywhere... What about the cell phone towers and tracking. The last mail bomber - they caught the guy by using his cell phone - starting cross referencing phones in relation to the packages being dropped off in the mail. Look at the power of google to track your phone - it is a double edge sword - cuts both ways....good and bad. Just some thoughts... Red |

Quoted: Definitely do have portable ones. They aren't cheap and a lot of places don't have them. Can't force fingerprints anymore than you can force them to ID themselves. But a trip to jail and charges that require fingerprints prior to release will get those fingerprints anyway ordered by statute or the judge. View Quote |

Maybe so but it's really helpful. For example if some guy says he's not a cop, you don't know if he's telling the truth or if he's a lying sack of manure. With this app, you can run his picture and if you get a hit from LE Only you know he's LE. Edit: beat like a rented mule |

The portable fingerprint scanners have been a thing around here for a while. They are quite small, look like an iPhone with special case holding the scanner assembly.
The news was running a story on how Pueblo recently got them issued to supervisors and now more people are getting busted for fake names. Also at the people on here who are fine with unlicensed operators and uninsured vehicles on the road. Illegals, druggies and drunks seem to make up the majority of those around here, I don’t want to share the roads with any of them. |

With more and more law enforcement wearing body cameras, seems this will become automatic.

been playing with it for a few weeks. it's not what i would really call facial recognition. it sort of works for finding similar online pics. more akin to google image searches.
nice you got a good hit on it. i have yet to get any usable intel from it. |
