Edit: When I talked to my buddy, he was heading in a meeting with the BC and other relevant leadership to try and figure out what to do. Some things he brought up were: -The unit facebook page has been shut down because news outlets were using it to contact soldiers in the unit. -The BC RFI'd my buddy on the COA for when the dude is killed by the cops. Does he get a military funeral? -the dudes first sausage is sweating bullets. I'm not sure the reasoning. My buddies phone was blowing up while talking to him. I'll update more when and if he gets a chance to talk. On a side note, my va councilor and my grammother lives 5 minutes from where he swapped vehicles. I think the leadership is sweating due to what they did or didn't do after his release. They are probably fine. However, they are about to be held under a microscope on a national scale. This event will certainly affect an oer/ncoer, so I bet they are trying to ensure that they did, in fact, take all the necessary actions. It is hard to manage soldiers in the reserves. As a leader, you can't do much unless they are at drill or on orders. For instance, you can't confiscate his firearms. When I was in, I had a soldier who decided to Don his full battle rattle and march down the city streets with an AR at 2 in the morning. The cops took his firearms, and we got him a mental health profile. If the cops didn't confiscate his guns, the profile would be useless because the 90% he's at home he would have access to firearms. Just like the Sutherland Springs church shooting; where some USAF fuck didn't report the crazy dudes issues properly. That whole NG COC should hang at the gallows if what they are worried about is proven true. |

The MENTAL abilty to put sights on center mass and pull trigger, repeatedly, moving between targets without going "WTF AM I DOING" is likely what the SSRI influance/enable. That's about the best mechanism I've heard proposed for how SSRIs might be involved in mass shootings. I've always figured it was just a correlation. Shooters have mental disorders, eventually just about anyone in the USA with any health care contact, who has mental issues, will end up on an SSRI (or other psych med). The other thing they might do is activate people who would otherwise be too stuck in depression to do anything. I had taken fluoxetine a couple years back and I can tell you the gap between the thought of doing something dangerous and actually doing is greatly reduced. A crack head walks in front of you car and you don’t slow down because you’re perfectly fine with what ever happens. You drive over an overpass or pass impact absorbing rails and wonder what it would be like to run right into it. It got scary as hell and I went off cold turkey against my doctors recommendation. What’s worse, brain zaps or getting fucked in prison for running people over. |

It would work, but its a bit more isolated and harder to get to other areas if the need/desire arose. |

Also there's no way to keep a gun concealed in that situation. Maybe a BUG in some baggy-ass carpenter jeans but some of us don't walk around looking like extras on the job site. |
