One of the patrons that was killed left his CCW in the vehicle as the restaurant was posted. IIRC his family sued the restaurant and won. Not exactly. Lubys Cafeteria 30 years ago. The patron, a female medical doctor was eating there with her parents when the shooter crashed a pick up truck into the building and began shooting. Her parents were killed. There was no “posted” or CCW in Texas at the time. She testified in hearings before the state legislature about leaving her handgun in her car because at the time there was no CCW in Texas, there was only a loophole that let people legally carry a gun in their car. Her testimony regarding that experience was critical to Texas, finally passing CCW licensing legislation. I met her in 1995, I was in Columbus, Ohio along with her, Larry Pratt, David Kopel, and about two dozen others testifying in favor of CCW for Ohio. It was the beginning of our concealed carry push. If I remember correctly, the push for concealed carry in Ohio started with a bill to completely eliminate the offense of carrying a concealed weapon (which would've made Ohio the second constitutional carry state) in 1993, but it died in committee, and 1995 was when a concealed handgun license bill was first proposed. |

Quoted: There were more homicides back when the country was more religious. The US is the most religious country in the developed world as well by a large margin, yet we have more mass murder incidents. I'm doubting the lack of religion has much to do with it. Probably has to do with a few things. For one, life is better overall, but when you find yourself in a tough spot that loss can hit you hard. The relative fall or knowledge of what life could be compared to your current situation takes a greater toll that constant, consistent lows. Before the 1960s life sucked for most people but most people didn't have enough time to dwell on it. Other countries have grown with this realization and try and prevent sudden lows. People have more vacation time and sick time to sort out life issues, and health care is more proactive rather than reactive. Many Americans just skip getting checkout because they're worried about some hidden bill. Even here you can read about people complain about expensive bills for quick doctor visits. View Quote Who was the last "Christian on Hard Times" mass shooter? Literally all of them are fucked up liberal / Trans/ progressive parents didn't hug me enough types - if anything these fuckers specifically have targeted Christian schools and "happy" nuclear families. The number of religious people in the US is declining rapidly, and you're seeing a huge push towards secularism at all levels (school, family and government). Anti-depressants are handed out like candy due to women being told to act like men and men encouraged to dress up like women. The progressive economic clusterfuck of our welfare state over the past 50 years has only made everything worse - and I haven't gotten to race or class warfare yet. But wait. You're telling me that the solution to the ills of our quasi socialist utopia is... MORE socialism? ObamaCare really capped healthcare costs, didn't it? |

Quoted: Someone I follow on Twitter is saying Card suicided himself View Quote The vast majority of mass shooters (not gang members, those aren't mass shootings by any stretch of a reasonable person's mind) either commit suicide by the time the police show up, or duke it out with the cops until getting canoed. Very few mass shooters shoot up a location and then leave to go shoot up another. Based off the reports of one of Card's vehicles being found at that boatyard, my bet is that he stole a boat and fled somewhere. |
