Quoted: I’d say that social media is limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and the handful of conservative versions. Beyond that, nothing is counted. This is an old school web forum where anonymous people chime in on different topics. I mean, you definitely wouldn’t include all of the news sites you leave a comment on, would you? This is an old school web forum where anonymous people chime in on different topics. I mean, you definitely wouldn’t include all of the news sites you leave a comment on, would you? I've never had an account at any of those including linkedin; arfcom and a couple of outdoor forums that I rarely post on are the only social media I've ever signed up for. And I wouldn't comply even if I had accounts on those other sites. |

Quoted: Well, as some of you know by now, New York passed a law requiring disclosure of all social media use in the past three (3) years in order to qualify for a license to OWN and/or carry a handgun. They also shortened renewal periods to 3 years. The date that is 3 years from my next renewal is thus fast approaching, after which I shall go silent. To the various alphabet and local agencies tracking me, my apologies for this interruption. *Sarah McLachlan I Will Remember You plays softly as slideshow of past GD depravity scrolls* I'll miss you most of all System Message... View Quote Did New York provide a discrete, legal definition of "social media?" And did they define "use." For example, I don't have a facebook account, but I "use" it by snooping it. Likewise with Linkedin. |

OP if you continue not disclose your state they will never link anything to you.

This is such an easy requirement to get around, I don’t see how it’s enforceable. Especially if you use a pseudonym which most do.

Come back as a girl. You’ll never have to worry about paying for a membership. And the NYstapo won’t be able to make heads or tales.
Just watch out-I hear the girls get sent pics of Harvey Weinstein-looking guys in Speedo’s. |

Not reading four pages of crap, but after about a month your posts go into the archive where usernames are removed. So aren't you safe up until a month before?

Sounds like an Orwellian novel.
What an absolute joke. The neo fascist plague continues. |

Quoted: How would they know? View Quote Google already knows who's who on the internet and all forums thanks to people staying signed into their search engines and browsers for a decade while doing everything else on their computer, if not google, Apple, Microsoft, they all share data. Then it's just a matter of NYS asking Google (aka Private CIA, started as CIA with Facebook) for information regarding an applicant to follow their law. They can then say "an anonymous tip" led them here. Nobody will care about that stupid 5th Amendment and self incrimination crap, that's old and needs to be done away with anyway. |

View Quote One off's are hard here, but when you want to build a system to suppress political opposition and where you can deny applications for withholding information or lying about accounts and force the applicant to sue to prove you wrong, where you must disclaim account ownership under penalty of perjury, its easy enough to build a system. |

It's not terribly hard to have secret social media accounts or to create fake ones to show . I actually suggest this to my teen daughter to keep her public account in her name clean of politics drama or anything potential employers would have an issue with. Have your fun accounts with a fake name or nickname and different emails.

I don't answer questions. |

i might get some more kittens. They tend to not comply all that well

Just imagine your little kitten getting blown in half by some fish cop. I edited the rest.

I thought that the social media thing and interview was for people applying for the permit, not for the ones already having the permit and renewing..

How would they “investigate” your social media, anyway?
Would you provide usernames and sites, and then some apathetic state employee tries to search all your posts? Are they relying on finding that you’ve said something overt? Maybe they’ll run it all through a search algorhythm for key words? How long would this take, for 3 years worth of data? The whole thing would be funny if it wasn’t so infuriating. |
