Any of you guys want to help on my DIY project? Getting my whole house fan to run again
4" v belt pulley on what appears to smooth shaft spins freely. Well not freely because the pully gets hot AF from friction. The set crew is as tight as I can get it. This has run fine for 23 years I have been in the house, and is probably fab'ed in the late 40 early 50. Super simple. Vertical shaft, pillow blocks top and bottom, big ass aluminum fan at the top, 4: 4L pulley on the bottom. Reasonable access to the pulley and shaft through the louvers. Yes I fucked with it. Belt broke and same size replacement is/was too loose. but the next size smaller on, tight, but ran great for a week. Then the pulley walked up the shaft into the pillow block/support. Used a gear puller to pull it back done. Ran 1/2 hour and the pulley walked to the free end and started to spin, shaft not rotating. Adjusting the tension is a several hour job that requires pulling the louvers (huge mess) and monkeying with the motor mounting screws. Up in the hot AF attic. Present plan is to pull the pulley and get a replacement at TSC in the morning and also new set screws. Or stake the shaft/existing pulley with something. Any ideas on a good stake for that application? |

I have nothing to do with this pic. It's last weeks winner from the dirt track I'm contemplating putting my son on, I posted the pic for Ben because we were talking about the (lack of) rulebook on zello.

Kyle bush will win because I just took him out of my lineup and put Boyer in. I still have Bush picked to win in the bonus points.

Great move by "Rip", I mean Kurt...
That guy can drive redheads, cattle and cars like no one else.... |

You know, almost all of use had Kyle to win in the fantasy league.
