Quoted: Quoted: Doesn’t his win/loss ratio without Brady show us that he’s mediocre at best? That’s a retarded take. +1 All it shows is how valuable Tom Brady was to the team. The perfect example to show this is 2007 and 2008. In '07, Belichick and Brady took an absolutely loaded roster to 16-0 in the regular season and all the way to the Super Bowl where they were beaten in a close game. In '08 the Patriots had essentially the same exact roster...but Brady had his knee caved in at Aaron Rodgers minutes into the first game of the season. Without Brady, the Patriots were 11-5. I believe 100% that Brady was indeed worth four or five extra wins and with him, they probably would have gone 15-1 or 16-0 again in '08. So, Belichick's record with/without Brady isn't an indictment on Belichick, it's high praise for Brady. |

Quoted: So, Belichick's record with/without Brady isn't an indictment on Belichick, it's high praise for Brady. View Quote Bill is responsible for the roster. The draft and the free agents. Bill was responsible for putting Patricia and Judge in charge of the offense last season. Bill is the head coach. He is ultimately responsible for everything. So yes, we have to cut Bill a break because Brady was a legend and you don't just replace a guy like Brady. But that does not mean Bill's record without Brady can be completely ignored, because it is still founded on a decade of poor drafting and free agency moves and dumbshit decisions like last year's offensive leadership/play calling, which were all Bill's choices. |

Quoted: It's apparent that there are two different things about Belichick that are in play here: 1. Bill the coach 2. Bill the GM Bill the coach is very good, certainly as good as anyone, anywhere, at any time. He has proven this. On this level, he and Brady had more of a symbiotic professional relationship. Bill helped Brady, but Brady really helped Belichick. Bill the GM is quite a bit more complicated. It's looking more and more like Bill the GM benefited greatly by having Brady on the roster for a number of reasons. A. Brady taking "team friendly" contracts that helped Bill sign more talent across the roster. Unlike other top tier QBs of his era, Brady didn't demand every last dollar he was worth. B. Free agents willing to come to New England (many times at bargain bin pricing) because they knew that Brady gave them a chance to win it all. C. Perhaps most importantly, Brady the player made everybody around him better. He made the O-line look great. He made his receivers look great. He helped his defense look better because he made the offense so much better. Brady covered Bill's sins as GM, of which there were plenty. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: As far as the Patriots are concerned, it is clear that the 20 year run of success was more due to Brady than Belichick. Now, I'm not saying it was all Brady, but Belichick was certainly made better by Brady, not the other way around. Belichick is still one of the top HCs in the league (and...ever?), but he was vaulted to even greater heights by having Brady under center. Brady proved he could go somewhere else and win a championship with an entirely different cast of players and coaches. Bill has proven that he can't. Brady covered up and mitigated A LOT of shortcomings from his teammates and his coaches. Doesn’t his win/loss ratio without Brady show us that he’s mediocre at best? It's apparent that there are two different things about Belichick that are in play here: 1. Bill the coach 2. He helped his defense look better because he made the offense so much better. Brady covered Bill's sins as GM, of which there were plenty. Bill the GM has objectively failed. He didn't start bad, but something changed in NE's processes, and it ended badly. Since 2014, Bill has only drafted two players that made the Pro Bowl with the Patriots. One is a punter, and the other is Mac Jones with a massive asterisk next to his name. Belichick also repeatedly fell short in free agency culminating with the offense skill positions being pretty barren in/since 2019. So, it's Bill's fault the roster sucks, but the product he coaches on the field is still pretty solid relative to the talent on the roster. |

Tomlin does do some seeming stupid shit. Like not fire Canada. And letting 20 seconds tick off the 2nd Qtr clock before calling the TO. Then kneeling on it after the kickoff. Kinda hard to explain that. O'Donnell threw the game. Payback for the Golden Richards drop. |

Bill is still one of the best coaches out there. It's hard to go from a HOF QB and continue winning, which is what pissed me off about Green Bay. They may be doing it a 3rd time in a row. They need a few years of Quincy Carter imo. |
