Raising the debt ceiling is a treasonous act!
All it does is harm our county. |

The Uniparty loves stringing you boys along. Outcome is known.

Quoted: Why do they even pretend that there is one? View Quote Im not versed in the reason we structure our debt like this but the dog and pony show they put on about it every 18 months is tiresome. Why does no other country on Earth have to go through this nonsense? Same goes with the government shutdowns. |

In the Do we need a third party thread are the guys telling us how great the republicans are. Here is another Uniparty fucking for the taxpayers

This is 100% backroom, smoke and mirrors. A big part of the problem is we don't what it is. Of course we don’t know what is in the proposal. I can’t remember the last time we had an actual budget that was approved after public discussion. This is no way to run a railroad but it is where we are. Defaulting on our national debt is not acceptable. There is still money coming in and we could pay the interest and redeem notes. The government would have to prioritize which items would be funded. With Biden in power, they would make CRT and Climate Change top priority right after paying themselves. Next they would pay welfare and any pet projects. At tge bottom of the list would be anything the taxpayer would want like defense and Social Security. |

Everyone here complaining, but my 401K could use some good news. I'd like to be able to retire some day.
Every day of gloom and doom doesn't help much. |

Dang I was hoping to get bigger rates in Tbills. 5.78% was not bad.

Snip. The deal would raise the debt limit for two years while capping spending over that time, and includes some extra work requirements for programs for the poor. Full article here.https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-debt-ceiling-negotiations-push-towards-critical-default-deadline-2023-05-27/ |

So the deal is to put more debt upon the citizens of this nation which means even more interest to paid annually.
Great job republicans. I laughed how the lefties started doing the no SS checks |

The whole thing is kayfabe.
They were always going to raise it. |

Quoted: The government spends something like $1.27 for each $1.00 they collect. They are not cutting their spending by over 21%, maybe they will cut it by 1%. View Quote We need a Constitutional amendment imposing Zero-based budgeting. |

Quoted: Yep. Fpni. We are 100 percent better off making Janet pay bills only with money she gets. Pay debt service, ssa, and defense. Lay off rest of gov and stop paying ngos to let illegals into the country View Quote [Emphasis added. LOL. You don't even see it, do you? Your attitude, writ large across every other American's piece of favorite government cheese "I paid into!", is exactly why this will never be fixed until it breaks. The lights are going out, and we deserve them to. |

Lay off rest of gov and stop paying ngos to let illegals into the country View Quote NGO's? Shit, last video I watched, CBP had relatively heavy security established for the busses they were loading up at the southern border. There was a report 2 weeks ago regarding admin at CBP/HS (whatever .gov agency) and Mexico's equivalent making arrangements on when/where the illegals could be picked up and shuttled into the cuntry. |

Attached File
Attached File Attached File The cut in spending is about $50 billion. In exchange they are raising the debt ceiling about $4 trillion to get them thru 2 years. |

There was always approximately 0.0% chance that the debt ceiling wasn't going to be raised.

The "debt ceiling" is kabuki theater so that a bunch of crooks can spend trillions of dollars that don't exist and congratulate themselves for not spending more.

Quoted: did the R bend at the fucking knee? View Quote It looks like the Republicans did OK. They got a 1% limit on non defense increases and new work requirements. The devil will be in the details but it does look like the Republicans got the best of the deal while giving the Democrats enough to claim victory. |
