I know a machinist that made a bunch of silencers and homemade guns like sten's and such.  I think it was about 50 counts.  He made them, shot them and then chunked them under his single wide trailer.

Somebody snitched on him as part of a plea deal in a unrelated case.

I thought he was going to prison for the rest of his life.  He is older and kind of crippled so the jury gave him 2 years probation.
View Quote
Not that I think it is a good idea or even condone it, but I have only seen a couple of cases where someone with a legit unregistered machinegun absent other criminal felonies actually did any jail time. Most people just get the gun confiscated and put on probation. The whole $250,000 fine and ten years in jail is mostly just a scare tactic. People like Olofson are the exception and not the rule, and he only was sentenced to 30 months.

My town.

There's a bit more to the story, apparently this guy was making homemade HE rounds for his 37mm launcher. These were also recovered.

Serious question, would you walk out of your 13 year old daughter's life and resort to only seeing her a few times a year (if you were lucky) all because you didn't like the politics / gun laws in your state?  Or are you under the impression that you can just make your ex move wherever you want because you want to own a machine gun and not have a FOID card?

You really think it's about casually owning some toys?  Maybe you'll change your mind when you're shot to death by police after your ex's friend red flags you.

I'm guessing those were not spin fused. All legalities aside playing with homemade HE rounds is a good way to get the nickname Stumpy.

If true that he made unregistered suppressors, he's probably good and screwed.

Aside from that, he could have been the test case for CT's AWB ban/registration.  Otherwise completely legal, just not registered under the new-ish law.  Would it have stood up to supreme court scrutiny?

One of the problems is that in some states, they already know a lot of what you have.  In some cases, you can obtain a list of what they already have on file.

You can keep the 10+ round magazines that you already had prior to the passage of the law.  I believe you can keep them loaded at your house, transport them unloaded, and load them at a gun range.  I bring mine to ranges and use them, and no one seems to give a damn.

I think you can have them at your place of work too, but I'm not sure, so don't quote me on this.

Frankly, I don't really worry about it much.

This is what tyranny looks like.

It's why registration, red flag laws, and gun laws in general, are all rooted in evil. They are all about confiscation and punishing otherwise law abiding people. Not about targeting criminals who pray on the public.

They want to severely punish a man, simply for exercising his 2nd amendment rights.

Not because he was a gang member or other criminal who was using these tools to commit crimes. To harm people.

No his crime is simply exercising his rights. Hopefully a jury nullifies the law, but I wouldn't bet on it. Far too many ignorant and evil people who support these laws.

I have a good woman I think... She asked me how many guns I have one day and I avoided answering which she noticed.

I broke down and told her that's not a question you ask someone. I told her after my death for months later she should be finding things hidden thru out the house, behind coffeepot, etc..

She is a good woman but her daughter in public school makes me worry... No telling what schools are filling her head with.

This.  I pose this as a serious question for those in CT (I believe that's where this is, correct me if I'm wrong): how does one go about registering magazines according to state laws?  I'm genuinely curious.  No magazine I own - excuse me, I should say "owned" due to a recent and tragic boating accident - has any sort of identifying markings.

Absolutely!...you present yourself as a good, law abiding citizen when they require you to register your firearm(s).  First tiny bit of attention from the authorities and your registration allows them search your home and property(s).  It's all a scam, and it's been used by dictatorships and despots for many decades.

I really think that those of us in gun friendly states need to start pushing for amnesty and "sanctuary" for people like this in the evil states. We can have a vetting process, where they look at the persons history and the nature of the offenses, then let a judge or jury rule if they should be allowed to own firearms within the state.
