Quoted: Not sure if that’s the updated version to this (?), but the best damn Porter I’ve ever drank was this coconut porter in Hawaii by Maui Brewing about 10 years ago. It even had tiny coconut shavings in it. Unfortunately my wife surprised me for Christmas the next year by having some shipped to Florida and it was skunky AF and entirely undrinkable after the 12 hr journey https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/301438/9EE7FEB6-7A04-4A52-8046-20A2FDDA92FC_jpe-2301425.JPG View Quote Yeah, same stuff. I can get in Colorado when I'm there. |

If you’ve had their anniversary stout, you know. 20-24 currently on hand with some other fun ones (black gold, double barrel and maple/coffee maple stout) on hand. Surly Darkness is also phenomenal. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/304268/4CDA625D-5456-4910-A6E6-2A23B232D6B7_jpe-2343691.JPGhttps://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/304268/11C58CB2-0D47-40D3-90CF-6F28363F8402_jpe-2343692.JPGhttps://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/304268/C1554B76-8223-426A-BF75-BF9DC3AE4A0B_jpe-2343693.JPG View Quote I’m jealous of your collection! And the pastry stout. Interesting... I'll tell you what, that Caribbean Night Out is pretty dang tasty. Creamy with plenty of coconut and a nice oaky flavor! Just might be the best coconut brew I've had. That spot previously belonged to Kona Brewing's Koko Brown. It's funny how many breweries we've got here in the Cincy area. I hadn't even heard of Wooden Cask before, come to find out they're right across the river in Newport. If you can find it by you I suggest getting some. |

My latest haul from yesterday.
I was impressed enough with Wooden Cask with the Caribbean Night Out, I decided to try out another offering from them. Attached File |

Thanks for posting these. I haven’t been drinking as much and already have like 4 cases of peanut butter Porter but singles are nice to try.

Been a long, hard working weekend. Can confirm Wooden Cask's Maple Corruption is just as good as their Caribbean Night Out.
Tasty maple and oak flavors. Very smooth! At 10% ABV, has a nice boozy taste. They are 2/2 and quickly becoming a local favorite! Looking forward to trying more from them! |

I had known they were the only official Trappist brewery here in the US but, unfortunately, never got around to trying anything from them. It was all but impossible to find their stiff in stores, you had to pay a premium for shipping. Reading that article, I can only shake my head at that BS excuse about the niche. They literally probably had one guy in charge of distribution, and he must have sucked. But, in classic corporate logic and blame shifting, they just blame the consumer. |

Like I said, you folks are very quickly becoming a local favorite! Best local BA stuff I've had since I gave up Rhinegeist after their shenanigans of taking up bail funds for rioters in 2020 instead of helping small businesses rebuild because of those rioters. There's lots of local breweries I like but they don't seem to do a lot of BA stuff. Glad I discovered you all! |

I used to really like dark beers. There was a CA company called Reaper Ale that had some good ones, but I'd take anything I could find that was dark.
Several years ago I started noticing that many of the dark beers I tried, mostly porters, had this strange metallic aftertaste, and I couldn't get past it all of a sudden. Is that normal? I'd love to get back into them again, but maybe my taste buds just aren't a fan or something. |

Quoted: Ayinger "Celebrator" View Quote Yes. That one. Ginger Man Houston, once upon a time, had it on draft special at something like 2 or 3 dollars a pint. I damn near died... Did not care that it was a typical Houston 78 degree dewpoint day either. Haven't tried anything truly amazing Stout/Porter wise lately. So much of it goes full throttle on the alcohol, but doesn't balance well. The Excalibur Arthur's Ashes, wasn't bad though. Neither was an Islay-barrel aged Wee Heavy (close enough to Stout and Porter; chill out) from Southern Yankee The 'Aye, Laddie'. That one did hide it a tad better, but a 12.5 beer is still going to get your attention. Worfh your time if you're in N Houston. And I guess they now have a Montrose location too. Pizza's supposed to be on point. No idea if as good as Nick's Place or Cane Rosso though. |
