Oh, don't get me wrong, I think the dude can coach.

More importantly he can recruit and that creates a huge lower shift when it comes to California.  Right now there is a ton of parity due to the big name coaches all trying to recruit the same area.  Him at USC could end up landing east coast athletes as well.

I think he would do well at USC, but I think it would be an easier road in the Big10 or Big12.

Urban is Saban level coaching.
Very, very few have that. Aren’t they the only 2 coaches that have won NCs at 2 different schools? That says a lot when you think about it.

I predict Urban can take just about any program to a championship, if they fund him and let him run the show.

Yeah, he seems to be a short term fix.  He left Florida in a mess, but Ohio State didn’t seem to fall off much.

They say it was for player safety.
I’d be inclined to agree. Comments I read from some of the players saying it was damn exhausting.
Probably damn close to playing another couple of quarters if you compare it to the number of plays run. A&M ran 107 plays and LSU ran 90.

He probably could, but he wouldn't.

He's been very smart about the jobs he has taken. Each time, he went to a school that had tons of already existing talent; but the previous staff couldn't coach for shit.

He will go to where the school was recruiting well already and build on that.

I promise you hes not gonna walk into a bare cupboard situation and try to fix that mess.

Yes it is.  We left Baton Rouge right after kickoff and I thought it would be almost over when we got back to Mobile.  If I remember correctly, we watched two and a half hours more.  Good way to get players hurt and lose your next game.

Total plays for entire game.
As an example A&M averaged 73 plays per game that year in their other 12 games. That’s 34 addition plays which is roughly 1/2 again. Hence like playing another 2 quarters.

They mighta won it all had they had a chance.  Didn't they beat the shit out of Alabama or somebody in a BCS game that year?

2009 Sugar Bowl

Utah 31 v Bama 17

Wittingham was the coach.  Urban left for the Gators in 2004

Who'd they beat in 04?

Yeah....that was a pretty week schedule that year for them..  it sucks that the best team was Pitt....but when you are is a bitch to get in.  Too bad they weren’t in the PAC then, it would have been cool to see them play USC in 04

A&M, Arizona, and North Carolina aren't bad wins either.

Not really...
A&M was Ok...winning some games and losing to Baylor that year....7-5
Arizona was 3-8
NC was 6-6....big win was over a decent Miami team, then only beat shit teams.

That's a P5 heavy schedule for G5 teams

Many consider that the greatest football game ever played.

Then A&M and LSU in 2018 said “hold my beer and watch this”

7 OT's is pretty wild

How many games result in the NCAA making rule changes?

Its pretty rare... gotta stay within your TV TIME SLOT!!!!!

They say it was for player safety.
I’d be inclined to agree. Comments I read from some of the players saying it was damn exhausting.
Probably damn close to playing another couple of quarters if you compare it to the number of plays run. A&M ran 107 plays and LSU ran 90.

In OT or total?

Kliff Kingsbury offenses do 90 ppg all day long but they usually lose

Total plays for entire game.
As an example A&M averaged 73 plays per game that year in their other 12 games. That’s 34 addition plays which is roughly 1/2 again. Hence like playing another 2 quarters.

That’s a bunch. I always thought 80-85 was considered a very high snap count.
