We are prepped, but I have to go travel in a metal tube all day breathing the same air as thousands of usually sick people in flu season coughing up a lung and walk through airports with thousands of incubators. "Six people have died from the virus and 291 have been infected in China" China has over a billion people. That could equal 6,000,000 dead in the US. This deserves attention. 20% needing ICU that will overwhelm hospitals very quickly. Then people start dying in big numbers. |

I haven't seen the collapsing in the street videos before and this isn't the first outbreak I've lived through of weird diseases from China.
Are these videos current? Anybody else remember seeing these in past outbreaks? That one guy did a damn convincing concrete face plant if he was faking and didn't just regain consciousness at the last second. The folks don't look particularly old either in most videos. China says 830 total cases but THIS MANY of them were caught on video? |

Texas A&M student may have possible case of deadly coronavirus BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas (KEYE) -- The Brazos County Health District is investigating a suspected case of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus. The patient traveled from Wuhan, China, where the coronavirus originated, health officials say. Brazos County is the home of College Station and Texas A&M University. Texas A&M University confirmed that a student may have a possible case of coronavirus. Here |

Quoted: How many are 'isolated'? View Quote Another poster on page 2 stated that there are only about 60,000 ventilators in the US. We just don’t have the infrastructure to care for large numbers of infectious patients. I don’t know exactly what a bad outbreak would look like in regards to out acute hospital response, but I think it is safe to say it wouldn’t look like the care that people have become accustomed to. The shortages of vents is what is scary to me. |

I’m not the smartest man, but geographically boundaries will not prevent the virus from going human to human or not doing that. It’s not like the virus said “cool, America. I’m not going to try and find another host. I’ll just die.” Right? Am I off on this? Seems like damage control to downplay this and prevent panic. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Seems like damage control to downplay this and prevent panic. AIDS/HIV, for example, is MUCH more aggressive in people who have the sickle cell trait (which makes them damn near immune to malaria BTW) but there are groups in Europe who are nearly immune to it due to historical exposures to plague. One of the last go arounds of this, and I can't remember if it was swine flu, bird flu, or SARS, but the infection rates in non-Asian countries was quite a bit lower. I wish I could find that info again. |

I’m attending TAMU right now.

So there is that, but the fact their 830 number seems like bs is further reason to think they are minimizing the actual spread. |
