Right on cue.

The President wants to destroy NATO by forcing all of the members to increase military spending to the point where they actually have a military.

Once again you've pointed out that President Trump is a bad, bad, man and I'm almost sorry I didn't vote for Hillary Clinton like you did, keep it up however and you just might.
He doesn't actually care about the spending, he's just looking for an excuse to pull out of it.
Good. Most countries involved are shitty regarding their obligations. Let's make a new pact with the eastern/semi-eastern european countries. Fuck western Europe at this point.

Toomas Ilves lived in a dreamworld, and the dream is now over. The current Estonian government needs to consider a realpolitikal approach to a world, in which America is just another country and not some all-powerful hegemon. Nobody would stop them from taking the Baltics barring that tiny risk of there may be something other than nasty words at the UN.,like cutting off porn and hooker exports or something more meaningful than the sanctions over Ukraine or fucking around with the US. The Russian economy in farthest Siberia is the Chinese economy. A great many of the farms, forestry operations and remaining industries are Chinese owned. Russia invested nothing and China has stepped in.

On 16 July Vladimir Putin and his American peer are going to meet in Helsinki. Now it is quite possible that Estonians are going to get sold out that day. Don't panic, historically Americans do this to all of their "allies", it's inevitable when you deal with those people. Instead adapt a reactive and proactive contingency-policy that seeks closer co-operation with the Nordic countries, Germany, and Poland. When you do this, remember two key things: 1) Estonia and the Baltic Countries are not high-priority targets for Russia's aggressive foreign policy, Russia is tied up with its own systemic shittiness elsewhere, 2) You are not alone no matter what Vladimir Putin or the regime in Washington tell you. It will be alright if you continue economical and political integration with the neighbouring western countries. There might well be a Lavrov-Pompeo Pact, but this isn't 1939 anymore; the world has changed. There will be a future Europe with an independent Estonia in it.

I don’t have any actual fear of a Russian invasion but know that Russian meddling is a part of life. This is probably something Americans should get used to again rather than so many still refusing to understand that it means far more than election tampering.

Do you have any idea the force reductions that were made during the last 8 years? How many bases closed in Germany? The amount that the US Military was beginning to scale back because there was no more cold war? Even after Georgia and the annexation of Crimea? It didn't start happening in 2017.

Now it is being put front and center to get more substantial contributions from the nations that will benefit the most from our soldiers. While Europe has been conducting social experiments the US has been their shield, the status quo is changing and in the future more nations will have to be truly independent militarily to protect their people. Especially as resources are depleted.

He's been attacking NATO ever since he went to Moscow in the 80s. He's still completely ignorant about how it works decades later.

Now he wants to take our troops out of Germany?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/us-assessing-cost-of-keeping-troops-in-germany-as-trump-battles-with-europe/2018/06/29/94689094-ca9f-490c-b3be-b135970de3fc_story.html?utm_term=.3d5082d8d6b7

The Pentagon is analyzing the cost and impact of a large-scale withdrawal or transfer of American troops stationed in Germany, amid growing tensions between President Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, according to people familiar with the work.

The effort follows Trump’s expression of interest in removing the troops, made during a meeting earlier this year with White House and military aides, U.S. officials said. Trump was said to have been taken aback by the size of the U.S. presence, which includes about 35,000 active-duty troops, and complained that other countries were not contributing fairly to joint security or paying enough to NATO.

Word of the assessment has alarmed European officials, who are scrambling to determine whether Trump actually intends to reposition U.S. forces or whether it is merely a negotiating tactic ahead of a NATO summit in Brussels, where Trump is again likely to criticize U.S. allies for what he deems insufficient defense spending.
Zero fucks given. I don't care about his reasons, whether right or wrong, I just don't give a damn about NATO and they *should* be footing their own defense. The only reason Europe is littered with socialist states is because they aren't spending any money on their own defense, we are.
