Delegate Steve Heretick ([email protected] | (804) 698-1079) - He's broken ranks with his party before, and he's fairly moderate overall. He has received no funding from Everytown/Brady, but has been backed by Bob's Gun Shop (major local firearm retailer in Norfolk) in both 2007 and 2018.
Delegate Roslyn Tyler ([email protected] | (804) 698-1075) - To everyone's shock, she voted against all gun control bills that were up for vote in the House last week. She has received no funding from Everytown/Brady, but was backed by the Commonwealth Sportsmen's Alliance in 2019. She narrowly won the election last year by only two percentage points, so she likely recognizes her vulnerability in the 2021 election. Delegate Lashrecse Aird ([email protected] | (804) 698-1063) - Has received no funding from Everytown/Brady, but was backed by the Commonwealth Sportsmen's Alliance. She only won by a margin of about ten percentage points in 2019, which isn't much considering her opponent was a Independent, and she outspent him 10:1. She could be vulnerable to a strong Republican challenger in 2021. Delegate Lee Carter ([email protected] | (804) 698-1050) - Previously voted against H.B. 421 (repeals all preemption), H.B. 674 (red flag), and H.B. 812 (one handgun per month) earlier this session. Has also received no funding from Everytown/Brady. He's in a competitive district, and only won by six percentage points in 2019. He may be a strong ally for us. Delegate Mike Mullin ([email protected] | (804) 698-1093) - Has received no funding from Everytown/Brady, but was backed by the Commonwealth Sportsmen's Alliance in 2017. ... Delegate Mark Sickles ([email protected] | (804) 698-1043) - He received funding from the Brady Campaign way back in 2003, then he was backed by the NSSF in 2014. This is an unlikely one, but it's worth trying. Delegate Luke Torian ([email protected] | (804) 698-1052) - He has received no funding from Everytown/Brady, but was backed by the NSSF in 2011. The recent redistricting significantly increased the Democrat voters in his district, as it previously leaned Republican. So he might feel safe voting for an AWB, but it's still worth contacting him. Delegate David Bulova ([email protected] | (804) 698-1037) - He has received no funding from Everytown/Brady, but was backed by the NSSF in 2012 and the Commonwealth Sportsmen's Alliance in 2016. He voted against H.B. 421 earlier this session, so he seems to at least recognize radical bills and not blindly vote for anything his Democrat collegues put in front of him. He could probably be convinced to vote against H.B. 961 if he hasn't decided to do so already. View Quote |

I find my distrust, and dislike for cops is coming full circle. In my late teens and early 20s I pretty much hated them. By the time I was 32 or so that had flipped. Now that I'm 45, the circle is turning again, snd frankly after seeing some things as of late, especially today, I think I'm hitting that fulcrum point again. I mean I just can't trust or like that. Would they have been so pushy if we were armed? I certainly didn't see any pushing around on the 20th. I get that there are "some" on our side. But frankly, the more I see, the less I think those numbers are. View Quote In your 30's, you were too busy with kids and "life" to get into trouble. Quoted: Each and every year since 1995, VCDL has been preventing bad bills from passing into law and expanding the scope of liberty, like being able to carry in a restaurant, library, driving onto school property to drop off or pick up your kid, being able to get out of your car on school property(leaving the gun in the car), being able to walk through a park, being able to get an instant temporary carry permit if your local clerk tries to dick with you and delay your approval/renewal, and probably other stuff I'm not thinking of at the moment. I've witnessed this. We have consistently gained ground because of VCDL, sometimes in small steps, other times big steps. Yeah, we may be stuck with this for time being but on the other hand they are stuck with US for the time being. This isn't going away. WE are not going away. Magazines over 12 rounds banned. Floorplate issue removed. Silencers can be kept, but you need your threaded barrel weapons purchased before July1. No registration requirement. Grandfather banned weapons. Still total horseshit and unacceptable. ETA banned mags over 12 rounds must leave the state, for those that would comply. I mean you can buy a threaded glock or M&P barrel in fucking NC or TN or WVa, how the fuck can they prove you didn't have it before July 1st, 2020? Fucking assholes. I wish you people in VA the best of luck with this mess. Did you really think that would have any impact on the outcome? Seriously. A month ago I was pointing out in other VA threads that NYS counties were passing anti SAFE resolutions and it had absolutely no impact on the outcome. I was basically told that VA would be different. In the end there is no difference. Your rural low population counties are having state law dictated to you by a handful of high population urban counties whose residents probably think of their country cousins as embarrassing hicks. Same as NYS To my fellow Virginians: I think that Virginians (if the hammer falls and the Bill is signed into law) need to keep their own council and not communicate any 2A goings-on (legal or extralegal) with those who you do not trust....Much less here on this site as many members here are not our friends and will dime us out in a heartbeat. We are at the talking/persuading stage now.....That's over if/when the bill is signed into law and Virginians have to move forward with other efforts both legal and perhaps extralegal. I'm just saying to choose your confidants wisely going forward. To that end some random chest-beater trying to egg you on here on this site might not be the best person to confide in nor divulge any of your plans to. As far as those types go they can eat static as I won't be baited. |

Quoted: FWIW, there are a variety of ways a state can ban items previously legally purchased. But it's usually done in a way that it doesn't run afoul of the "takings" aspects of the law. And not sure about other states but it's been fought in court in California. California grandfathered them, allowing people to keep the ones they had but banning new acquisitions, etc. The pols then tried by bill and initiative to lift the grandfathering. The case for/against the grandfathering, Duncan v. Becerra, was heard by The Honorable Roger Thomas Benitez, a Senior United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. He not only found for the grandfathering but essentially held that any restriction on magazines was unconstitutional. In about a week, essentially every available magazine over 10 rounds in capacity arrived in California. His ruling is on hold now as it continues through the federal court system. His ruling masterfully attacked not only magazine laws but set up major constitutional issues that could positively (or negatively depending on your side) impact a wide range of firearms laws. It's pushing it's way through the 9th Circuit, being watched closely by a wide range of interested parties. View Quote |

Quoted: Virginia isn’t going to actively enforce it. They will put it on the books and call it a win, just like CA, CT, NY, NJ, MD. They will ignore the 4-5% compliance rate. A few incidental arrests will occur. Then the next shooting will have them pushing registration. Then they will send letters demanding surrender of firearms or successively larger fines after the next big shooting after that. There will NEVER be mass enforcement. Confiscation by cop won’t happen. They will bleed you dry with fines, liens against your house, and garnishing wages. Registration is the death knell. View Quote |
