My dads favorite car was a Pontiac Catalina. Sadly he ordered in a two barrel and not a four. Still it was a beautiful car. It developed a crack in the block and he had to sell it.

Pre 75 was Fairlane wagon . Post 75 was f150s each ...a Grenada. A conversion van with a transplanted ford 300 ...a caprice wagon . Dad kept the 78 f150 supercab until 1986 . Mid 80s he kept 3 or so cars in rotation.
Dad's first car was a new 1964 289 mustang . It was gone before I arrived in 1970 . |

1978 Ford Grand Torino. Shit brown. 2 door. Those doors felt liked they weighed 300lbs.

My fondest memories are our 87 caddie. A 93 geo metro. And a 94 Pontiac sunbird.
But I learned to drive on those. Before that was was random cheap Hondas and Nissans in the 80s |

Earliest car I remember my parents having was a Volvo 240 DL. Two door, burgundy with tan cloth, and a stick shift with push button overdrive.
20 years later, I leaned to drive a manual on a similar 240. |

Dad had an 85 Mustang GT and Mom had a first gen Grand Cherokee.
As I got older they both traded in for boring family cars. Sad. |

My Dad had a couple of Cadillacs.
One of them was a 65' or 66' Cadillac, a white one with those big ass fins? Anyway, most all of the guys that my Dad ran around with had Caddies and such. Status symbol for back in the day I guess. Like, close to a 460 or something the biggest engine package that they had. Gas was usually thirty cents a gallon or even cheaper, so it really didn't matter if twelve to fifteen dollars would fill a car up and you could virtually run all week. A lot of people had trailer hitches on their's back in the day and would tow boats around and go to the lake or something. Running down the road at 75 you wouldn't even know it was back there unless you looked. |

Dad had a 64 mustang convertible, green with white top and interior. Mom had an LTD wagon red with faux wood panels . They had those cars because I was born and three of us wouldn't fit in his 57 corvette.
He didn't actually replace the vette until 76, then it was a third car. |

78 AMC Matador wagon. I remember sitting in the rumble seats in the rear. Felt like you were sitting on the back bumper. We would pull back the carpet and we pulled the rubber plug and there was a hole to the street. We used to drop stuff out the hole while dad was driving.

Mom had the de riguer suburban Country Squire, with the 3 rows of seats and wood sides, and my Dad had a VW bus. I guess they were good choices for a family with 6 kids.

First I remember was a '48 Ford coupe. Then a '55 Ford 2dr sedan, '61 Chevy Bel Air 2dr and a '66 Impala 2dr hardtop.

First cars I can remember my mom and dad having was a gold 66 T-Bird for mom and my dad had a Company car from International Harvester, a Scout or Travelall that was rotated out about every 6 months or so. Dads personal ride was a clapped out looking lates 60s era Ranchero with a 390 in it. He pretty much only used it for dump runs. Those were always fun, " don't you tell mom " that we were doing 120 down White Rock on the way home.
Next cars they had were my moms VW Squareback and my dad built himself a bitchin Scout II all jacked up with chrome sidepipes painted purple imron metalic. |

65 Chevell 4 door, that I still have. 77 Delta 88 with the you know what diesel engine. Our's lived under a golden foot, my grandfather's was always in the shop.
Bumped up to a gold Tornado in the mid 80's. Then the swap to the Subaru and then when cooler heads prevailed and said high school 6'4" don't fit Subaru. We went BONNEVILLE! SUCH a ho hum car to a youth at the the time. I love the equivalent today! That bitch could fly! |

It was two tone, white over this sort of light lime green color, and it was built like a tank and it always won the day. |

1972 Chevy impala that my grandad bought my mom for about $400. They put an Earle Schiebe paint job on it. Junior high is where I realized that we were the poor folks. I was embarrassed when everyone else was driving 80's cars.

My parents called them yuppie cars, but it made sense after BMWs for my dad to get the next cool thing. He was military, though. It would get up and go, but I wouldn't consider it fast. I'd put it about as fast as a base model VW Golf. Ours was a 900iS, so it was a sport model, non-turbo. |

The two earliest cars I remember were in the 1960's. My Dad had an old Falcon and the kid hauler was a Pontiac station wagon with a 455.
I read a few people mention Ford Gran Torino. My parents bought a '76 Ford Gran Torino station wagon to take to Germany with us because it would run better on the German gasoline than the old Pontiac. That big Ford was a tight fit on some of the German roads! |

Until I was 10 years old, it was always a VW van, because I had ten brothers and sisters.
After that, we had a big-ass Chevy van, same reason. |

My earliest memory of any car my parents had was riding in a white AC Shelby Cobra with red interior. I only remember riding in it once or twice. Parents divorced not too much later. Dad sold it because he had no place to garage it, and it was expensive to maintain and insure at the time. That exact car (CSX 2421)sold ten years ago for around $1 million. It's a bummer he couldn't keep it, but that's life I guess.

The earliest vehicles I can remember my mom and dad driving were IH Scouts. My mom had a red, white, and blue one and my dad had a green and white one. Looked just like these…
