I chose one of the fastest and most capable DD offroad trucks that can also haul my family.

How am I supposed to tow my fishing boat, carry MTB bikes, or take a C7 hunting? LOL
I wouldn't be able to live my lifestyle.

As for fun cars, GT3R or R8 V10 spider. Can't haul my fam though, so that doesn't work.

The vehicle will be given to you free of charge, but:

1. It cannot be sold, traded, rented, etc. Nor can any components.

2. It must be your primary vehicle for five years, at least 87% of the miles you drive will be done with this, or you forfeit ownership. After five years you can drive it as much or little as you desire.

3. You must cover all expenses - fuel, insurance, maintenance, repairs, etc.

4. The vehicle will given to you with any modifications that you request.

What would you choose?

Most likely I'd go for something like this, with all modern components. I probably wouldn't go quite that low though.

LS engine, modern brakes, suspension, etc.

It's probably too low to drive every day, I'd bring it up about two inches

Already have the Lexus landcruiser ;-)

Something with a diesel, 4 doors, 4x4, and 1-ton capacity. Maybe a large expedition rig, but the 87% DD req in the OP is rough

the hoonigan k-truck seems to be something i could get down with daily. with a solid  170hp rotory in a small truck makes for some sketchy driving.

The car that is in my garage right now, a third generation Mazda Miata, set up exactly as it is with the best roll bar on the market, and a sweet exhaust. I'd add a better suspension than what I got, otherwise I am happy to put as many miles on it as I can. I can afford brakes tires insurance repairs and fuel and still have tons of fun with this car.

If I had to do 87% of the miles in it a 4 seater would be unavoidable, that eliminates the stratospherically expensive and awesome cars. I think a factory warrant is gong to be hard to argue against so I’ll go with the Ferrari GTC4 .

It would look like this in no time.

2017 ViperACR after being modded by the guys at Calvaro Motorsports.

Dial the boost back and drive it gently for a few years is easy as a DD. Maintenance is easy.

2000+ hp at the press of a button or just 600. At 600 it will drive nicely as a DD.

If I could spec it out anyway I wanted I'd throw the 440 in the scrap iron bin and have a tuned up 12 valve Cummins with an Allison transmission.

Exactly what I was thinking....
I want a 72 C10 similar to that pretty badly.  I'd have mine on air, so I can drop it down when I want and lift it back up when I need too...
Not sure if its me or of the trim lines are a bit wonkey from the bed to the cab...  Either way, I'd take it in a heart beat.

Depending on the interior, what frame and suspension mods and other stuff, that may be a 75-80K truck right there.
Not that I could ever afford it, but I'm seeing plenty of them go for astronomical prices.

Just make this old girl like new.

I’ve owned it for 18 years and I don’t ever plan on selling it.

I would take a few modifications though.
