That doesn’t seem possible with what the WHO people probably knew when they made that statement.

We may see a lot of sick people around the world in the next week or so. Incubation is guessed to be about 10 days in most of the models, right?

Incubation period allows plenty of time to travel or return to overseas jobs.

Plus as soon as people got some sense something was amiss, how many Hunaners bugged out? And when? Days ago? They're still brewing the biological nightmare within, oblivious until...

China has millions of workers in Africa. Many in South and Central America too.

Toss in India and we are staring right down the barrel of a big biological boogaloo.

Same. I have a daughter in school too.

Colleges are incubators.

We are prepped, but I have to go travel in a metal tube all day breathing the same air as thousands of usually sick people in flu season coughing up a lung and walk through airports with thousands of incubators.

My wife has severe asthma. If I bring it home she is basically dead.

I usually take great precautions in flu season, but this is a big unknown
Or when need hit up for TX fathers to kick in and help.
Thanks, but II am in the northeast

Good question.

Since they know there is a novel virus making people sick and some die of it, I really doubt anybody with half a brain is going to go to where all the sick people are unless they themselves are no shit sick and feel like they have no other option,

But i don't know chinese culture, so maybe I am wrong. Maybe everybody wants to flock where all the infected people go.

Don’t believe them at all. To speak the truth would cause global panic. Markets crash, it would be devastating. Keep it low key and pray it stays low key or “surprise we are all fucked” and that’s that.

Some viruses don't do as well in groups that they didn't come up along side.

AIDS/HIV, for example, is MUCH more aggressive in people who have the sickle cell trait (which makes them damn near immune to malaria BTW) but there are groups in Europe who are nearly immune to it due to historical exposures to plague.

One of the last go arounds of this, and I can't remember if it was swine flu, bird flu, or SARS, but the infection rates in non-Asian countries was quite a bit lower.
I wish I could find that info again.

The Spanish Flu killed a lot of healthy younger people and it had a second wave after a mutation into a more deadly form. It's biggest threat was the weakening of the immune system and "super infections" due to poor sanitation, hygiene, and again, weakened immune systems. The Spanish Flu was found to be similar to the standard Flu strains.

This could be different than the Spanish Flu and that makes it truly dsmn scary.

Watching people board, I have concluded that approximately 6 people on this plane are not Chinese. 30% are wearing a mask, but I can't remember which type of mask works and which doesn't. How do calculate my odds?
